What are your favorite flowers? Do you pick based on color, scent, or its meaning?
This lily of the valley bridal bouquet from one of our weddings has been popular recently, and it's not hard to see why. It's dainty floral bells and beautiful frangrance have graced royalty for their weddings and embody symbolism of humility, purity, youth, and most importantly, happiness.
Share with me what your favorite flower is and why. . .

Who else loves long table setups? The clean lines is therapy for my ocd.
When planning for guest seating, feel free to mix table shapes and sizes. It creates visual textures and imagery. Always make sure to take into account sizes of your chairs and chargers [aka presentation plates] so your guests don't end up too squished.
We loved designing this Bridgerton/European inspired classic wedding with the various textures of glass designs from the plates and glassware into the candles.
Would you do a long table setup or prefer rounds? . .

There's something about monochromatic [well duo in this case] colors that draws the eye.
In love with this multifaceted textured invitation set made of vellum, thick cardstock, letterpress, handwritten calligraphy and wax.

Stealing kisses...
We try to plan for it but love it when our couples can actually get away from their guests and take a moment for themselves after their ceremony. It's a great way to take it all in and spend time together during the crazy day. . .

One of my fav ethnic Asian ceremonies to do are Pae Baeks.
I'm not Korean, but I sure get asked by a lot of my Korean/Korean American couples how to incorporate some of their heritage and traditions into their wedding day. This is definitely one way to do it.
This Pae Baek was performed in the middle of dinner reception so everyone could see. If you want more privacy, host it during cocktail or earlier in the day, say during getting ready or right before ceremony and keep it to immediate family.
In the end, it's all about sharing the beauty and history of/birth of your new marriage to the world.
What cultural tradition would you like to incorporate? . .

Ever wonder why some event photos are too dark or over blown with flash? Worse yet, your guest photos look funky?
As an event designer and planner, one of the most important elements we stress is event lighting. If you have a little bit of a budget, a small amount of lighting makes a huuuuge difference. Your photographer and videographer team will thank you. Best of all those table details and people will look flattering.
Tell us your thoughts about lighting and what you've seen. . .

A white wedding gown dressed on a mannequin for getting ready details?
At first I had to do a double take when I was asked. But now I want to tell every bride to do this.
Seems so extra, but worth the extra item to show off the pretty form. Somehow this feels more tangible for some of these long beautiful gowns when capturing the bride and her dress.
What do you think? Would you use a mannequin?

Let's talk about engagement sessions for a minute. Why?
By doing so you get a chance to know the nuances of your photographer and they get to know you. I usually recommend couples to book an engagement session with their wedding photographer instead of a separate one. It doesn't seem that important, but getting that chemistry right helps make you feel less awkward in front of the camera and know what angles look best on you. That way come wedding day, it's like being among friends when you're photographed rather than trying to figure things out for the first time.
Having an engagement session allows for creative and intimate moments that a wedding day can't always allow. There's no formalities or a strict timeline you have to follow AND no one is there to clamor for your attention for family or friend portraits.
This is the time to dress up casually or extra formal and in whatever color of your choosing. You can select what kind of location/background and best of all, just stare into each others eyes and be silly or loving.
So, if you're planning an enagement session, tell us what you're planning in the comments below! ❤ . .

Having a large and grand wedding is on hold for now, but an intimate outdoor garden setup feels right at home and delightful. Who wouldnt love seeing their backyard turned into an al fresco/bistro style reception setup?
This micro wedding at a private residence gave us all the feels. The couple had originally planned for a resort indoor reception, only to postpone. Guests can still enjoy seeing and talking to one another, but safely from the comfort of their own tables.
We can't wait for more garden setups like this! . .

Who doesn't love a good ? Remember to have your florist supply extra loose blooms so they can help stage a pretty pic of all your personal affects.
Photographers who do flat lays will tell you it makes all the difference in the final photo. Bear in mind that a pretty photo like this takes at least 30 min. So add time to the timeline on the event day or even better, lend them specific items after the wedding and they can shoot in studio and play with the layout. . .

Happy March 2021 everyone! So it's def been a minute or two (2 months to be exact since my last post). I figured it's time to resurface, say hello and be present.
Hi! I'm Yingka. Owner of Master Plans Events & Designs. I'm def a person, but I also know it helps for people to see the person behind the brand. So.. here are some fun facts to get to know me:
1) I grew up a tomboy being an avid swimmer and basketball player. My mom thought I would be in sweatshirts and basketball shorts forever and freaked out, so she sent me to Etiquette School for an entire summer. It was worth it, but I hated it then. Now I wish for EVERYONE to go through it.
2) I'm a nerd through and through. I play video games, pretty tech oriented (programmed a little in college when it first started becoming popular), and love love anime.
2) I have two we**ie dogs as my children. One of them is still a baby (4.5 months to be exact). Follow them &
3) I've been musically inclined since I was young. I played the accordion when I was young before officially diving into piano. I was also in the marching band playing flute before switching to mellophone (if you know what this is, you're a band nerd too!), then french horn in orchestra. I still play piano, leisurely.
4) My English sounds almost perfect because I was in ESL in elementary school for 4-5 years. But don't let that fool you. I still speak fluently in Mandarin and Taiwanese.
5) My birthday month is March (hey hey! Whaddya know? great timing on this post, right?) That makes me a Pisces, which means I'm idealistic, daydreamer, super empath and romantic at heart. P.S. - also into astrology, for fun.
6) My goal for 2021 is to be socially present and active in sharing what Master Plans Events is up to and making new connections and old ones stronger.
Have a great day everyone and can't wait to hear more about what you were like growing up! 📷: 💄
