As a long-time supporter of the Marine Mammal Care Center Los Angeles, Torrance Refinery was invited to witness the release of California sea lions Kailani and Lahaina, impacted by Domoic Acid and Sarcocystis, back to the ocean at Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro. These magnificent animals are amongst hundreds sickened by the unprecedented Toxic Algae breakout which poisoned sea lions and dolphins along the California coast in June.

A donation made by the Company helped make their journey back to their ocean home possible. John Warner, chief executive officer of the Marine Mammal Care Center, expressed his gratitude and said, “Thanks for making heartwarming moments like this possible. Your continued dedication and generosity has a profound impact on the health of our ocean and marine mammals.”
