We set up an interesting balance course with a few obstacles at Fieldguide Farmhouse last weekend and spread the word about MovNat. Thanks for having us! The balance course really worked. This guy practiced for a few, then decided the shoes made it harder. Finally, he made it around barefoot after a few learning experiences.

Here's a quick video of some fun we had with some snowballs at last weekend's meetup. #movnat #gtprimal #tcmi

Clothing for winter MovNat can raise some questions. Here are some answers.

Fantastic movement and discovery, like this dynamic split dead-lift to overhead press on a hillside. This is opportunistic training, developing functional capabilities in the real world+outdoor time in nature. We'll be meeting every other Saturday in 2017 for more. #gtprimal #naturalmovement #traversecity

Hump Day
Friday just seems too far away. What to do? Just keep climbing. #humpday

We got in a great primal workout at the Commons. Here are some highlights:

Night Climb
It's empowering to find ways of existing right in the middle of an all too busy and crowded world in a way that makes me unique and solitary. Dozens of people walked right be me tonight in this popular park and yet I managed to go someplace no other human being probably ever has. #movnat #downtowntc #gtprimalmovement #iambatman #hotelindigo #getoutside #nightlife

Mondays
Going into work on Mondays be like...

This log got in my way
Removing obstacles from one's life requires patience, perseverance, and the earnest desire to do so. Flipping that same obstacle on its backside requires attitude and willpower. #couragethroughmovement #movnat #gtprimalmovement #lakesuperior

It feels so refreshing to go out and move without boundaries or a schedule or a training plan. It's simply playtime. And then I notice that my movements, which feel natural and instinctual, are movements I've been Movnat training for the last 3 years. Unconscious competence. Not thinking about what I'm doing, but doing it. An objective, often to be silent and efficient, helps to create a realm to keep the movement real. This kind of green exercise is relaxing and challenging at the same time. It's why I practice the little pieces and spend time barefoot. It's as close to a natural, primal human as I can be today.

Front Power Traverse followed by Side Swing Traverse
Recess isn't just for kids! Even as adults we get to explore and play using our bodies and minds. #primalrecess #movnat #gtprimalmovement

Piggybacking on the previous post, this is one of my favorite strokes, the combat side stroke. It's an efficient, low splash swim, that's easier on the shoulders than the crawl. I'm often swimming as part of triathlon training, but I like to mix in lots of variety and just have fun too. And...all of the movement patterns of the various stokes are proprioceptively dynamic training for the brain. Yum.

Come out this Saturday @10am to the TC Commons when we'll practice these MovNat skills in nature. We'll meet near the Greenspire school. Great free introduction to Primal Movement! #tcmi #northernmichigan #movnat

This is a #bustabalance challenge out-take from Day 4. It was such a gorgeous night to movnat at the beach, take in some nature and spend a few quiet moments at sunset. Let's do a Meetup here! #gtprimalmovment #movnat #rewildyourself #tcmi

This is my friend Logan. He is passionate about getting outdoors and moving his body. We have been practicing MovNat together for a few months. Come join us on our next MoveVenture Saturday May 21st at the TC Commons. We're meeting at the Greenspire school parking lot at 10am for a 1 hour hill and ravine movement exploration. Free!

These are exercises at my controlled outdoor movnat space, mostly dealing with balance, stability and spring barefoot adaptation. Training here is safer and more programmable (compared to wild environments) but still offers natural surfaces, uneven terrain, wobbly logs, natural sounds and fresh air. It's a cross between a gym and the wilderness.

Recently received my #movnatchallenge shirt and it's working perfectly. Thanks @movnat #movnat #movnatoutside #rewildyourself #tcmi
