Many of you know that I have filed ZERO insurance claims in my 15 years as a limousine company, and even though I sound like an underwriter's dream customer, I have spent 2+ years buying insurance out of the "high-risk pool," the MAIPF, because no insurer was willing to sell insurance to me on the competitive market. All the underwriters who had competed for my business previously had left the State of Michigan due to the legal climate here.

The passenger-for-hire companies in Michigan are advocating for legislative changes that will improve the insurance landscape for all passenger transportation services—impacting everything from shuttle operations to non-emergency transport. These changes aim to create a fairer environment and invite more competition, potentially lowering the costs you pay for transportation.

I unintentionally set a record of sorts for myself yesterday: I crossed the 45th parallel three times on three different highways on the same day. Sometime after midnight., I passed the 45th sign on US131 on my way back from taking someone from the late flight up to Boyne Falls. I passed the 45th sign on M22 on my way to pick up someone from Leland to go out on the early flight, and about 4:30 p.m. I passed the 45th parallel sign on US31 taking someone from TVC up to Charlevoix.

Here's a great article on the declining popularity of the stretch limousine. So glad I sold mine in 2019. I did NOT enjoy owning one other than booking a fair amount of trips in it. Every stretch limo started their life as a cut-in-half car creating the exact long-term problems you would expect: A/C and electrical. When I mentioned to a group of other limo owners that I had to replace my alternator pretty much every 12-months, the first operator who spoke asked me how I got them to last that long! I literally carried a spare alternator and the tools to replace it in my trunk at all times.

The Long Demise of the Stretch Limousine Once a symbol of affluence, the stretch limo has largely fallen out of favor as the rise of Uber and Lyft, the Great Recession and new regulations hastened a shift to chauffeured vans and S.U.V.s.

How many people drive past this historical place and never give it a second glance? Doesn't a Sunday homemade chicken dinner sound good?
