🔹Ethan has been with TC LBBRG since October of 2023. He graduated from the University of New England in 2013/2014. He gained experience in subacute rehab while working in Maine early in his career. He moved to Michigan in 2016, transitioning to inpatient rehab working primarily with individuals with neurological conditions. Most recently, he completed a 12-month Hand Therapy Fellowship at Michigan Medicine prior to his family’s move to TC. He is excited to build a hand and upper extremity rehab program at LBBRG in the near future!
🔹Trent has been with LBBRG at our Rockford clinic for about 2 years, working with both adults and kids. Trent graduated from GVSU’s OT program with a passion for neuro rehab. He has recently begun working to promote education and awareness regarding the MyndMove Functional Electric Stimulation (FES) device and upper extremity protocols to better serve potential patients and providers as well as promoting its use to fellow rehab clinics. During this upcoming year, Trent is looking forward to growing his clinical skill set and working with his team to develop an upper limb amputee rehab program to help better serve this population in the Rockford and greater GR area.
🔹Julie has been with LBBRG at our TC clinic for 8 years. She graduated from the OT program at Western Michigan University. Her primary role is as clinical director, however she also provides OT services to both children and adults. Julie is working with her teammates to develop new programs that integrate evidence-based practice with cutting-edge technology, including a pediatric intensive program that utilizes FES.
🔹Haley has been with LBBRG at our TC clinic for 6+ years and graduated from SVSU’s OT program in 2017. She has recently stepped in the role as community relations specialist, in addition to her position as an adult and pediatric OT. It’s graduation day for Ms. Rachel! Her and her speech therapist are all smiles for these perfectly cooked, and most definitely not burnt brownies.
Rachel participated in speech therapy and occupational therapy at Life Beyond Barriers Rehabilitation Group over the past few months. She shared that her favorite part was the engaging activities and interventions she completed, as well as the goals she achieved. Rachel is now using her left hand more, including independently managing her jewelry, and has been able to do household chores and cooking tasks with increased efficiency by using the strategies identified in speech therapy.
Following today’s graduation, Rachel plans to continue to find different avenues to improve her overall health and wellness, and hopes to find a meaningful volunteer opportunity to participate in.
Congratulations, Rachel and thanks for letting us be a part of your journey!
We love birthdays here at LBBRG and feel so special when we get to be a part of them in some way.
Happy Belated Birthday, Molly! Thanks for spending some of your birthday week with your (favorite 😉) physical and occupational therapists. 🎉
As therapists, we know on a personal level how important it is to set meaningful goals and work towards them. We too are consistently setting goals for ourselves, both personally and professionally, as we continually encourage our clients to do.
Sarah Hinck, physical therapist in our Traverse City clinic, was able to participate in the American Birkebeiner ski race this past weekend with her family. This is a Nordic (cross country) ski race held in Wisconsin, and this happened to also be the 50th year of this race in the USA. Unfortunately, due to the ample sunshine and recent bout of warmth in the Midwest, they did have to ski on man-made "sugar snow", though we wish we could have shared some of this current snowstorm with them. ❄
Way to go, Sarah, and all the other racers!
How the sunshine is making us feel today! ☀️ Happy Tuesday, everyone!
