Keeping your aquarium cool:
Just a reminder to watch the temp of your aquarium during the hot summer days.
Some things to help keep your tank cool:
1. Turn off the lights - Even LEDs can create heat. Your fish (and even corals) would rather have less light than higher temps. And reduce sunlight in the room.
2. Open the top - Letting heat escape can help regulate temps BUT WARNING: If you have jumpers they will take this opportunity to try to escape.
3. Place a fan across the top of the tank to help cool the water.
4. Increase water circulation: Warmer water means less oxygen so add an airpump, increase the water flow.
5. Add frozen water bottles. Freeze a few water bottles so they can float in your aquarium or sump. Don't flash freeze your fish, remember they don't like sudden changes in temp.
6. Add a chiller system to your aquarium (a more expensive option but the most effective in cooling the water)
