Our mission is to make fresh sandwiches, bake fresh bread, rolls, pastries & cakes everyday, use no preservatives & be here everyday of the year for our customers.
I have to apologize for my last post which I wrote rather quickly therefore I forgot to mention the unseen heroes who are on duty 24 hours of age protect our country from outside terrorism and that includes all the first responders as well as doctors and nurses. These are the people that really give up their holidays with their family and friends to keep us protected and running smoothly. After all, it is one of the things that makes us the greatest country in the world.
Well, we know that people travel every holiday and Labor Day is no exception. However, do we really know what Labor Day is really about? I will admit that in my business I plan for people to spend time with their family and grill their favorite sandwiches with our good rolls.
Labor Day was created to honor this countries, greatest employees and laborers who, without them, this country would not be what it is today. We always had the greatest economy, strength, honor, Dignity, and willingness to get up every day, five to sometimes seven days a week to keep this country, healthy, and working. We choose to celebrate with our families without thinking about the people who have to work to get us to our destinations and keep us fed, that is the real honor in this holiday. So enjoy it with your family and friends, and don't forget the people who helped get it done for you.
Did you know that Customers constantly remind us that they cannot find a buttered roll cheaper than Italian peoples bakery so, I reminded them that you cannot find a large cup of coffee and a buttered roll probably in this country for $2.59! We know that these are hidden secrets, but with the problems of this country and inflation, it's time to let it out! Furthermore, it's a fresh buttered roll while you watch, it doesn't get much more fresh than that. We are open seven days a week at 6 AM for your convenience.
Every Monday buy 6 get 3 free torpedo or Kaiser rolls!!!!

KFC COLESLAW RECIPE
This is an amazing copycat version of the famous KFC Coleslaw Recipe. It’s sweet, a little tangy, and creamy! My all-time favorite coleslaw recipe!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup buttermilk
2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
8 cups finely chopped cabbage (approx. 1 head)
1/4 cup shredded carrot (1 medium carrot)
2 tablespoons minced onio
Instructions:
Be sure cabbage and carrots are chopped into very fine pieces (a little bigger than rice)
Combine the mayonnaise, sugar, milk, buttermilk, lemon juice, vinegar, salt and pepper in large bowl. Beat until smooth
Add cabbage, carrots, and onions. Mix well.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, if you let it sit over night it’s even betterServes 10-12
Enjoy!

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND
A very misunderstood Holiday!
Hi everyone, this is CARMEN at Italian peoples bakery.
I guess I'm considered by some people to be an old timer at my age of 74. In 1970 I was drafted, not by the NFL, not by the NBA, not by the MLB, but by the United States of America. I answered the call to Duty, for the Vietnam war. I was in the middle of college, but I won the so-called draft lottery! BTW, that's the only lottery I ever won! to be honest, I was scared to death because I watched the news a lot, and understood that young men died. I went in with a very good friend of mine named Vince Mauro. Vince was killed during the Vietnam war and I came home. However, I do not claim to be a hero, I was just one of the lucky ones. But I do remember that Vince, who was a kind of rough and misunderstood teenager who would have protected my life with his because we were good friends. We are supposed to, on this holiday, remember that their lives were given for us to be & stay a free society. So, I'm sure everyone has a person in their family tree who either served or died in either WW1-WW2-Korean-Vietnam Wars. Take a moment to think about them & remember that under those white crosses lies a hero. Also, thank a veteran but don't ask them about that experience, they won't tell you. Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts on this important holiday. Enjoy your family this weekend.
Just some of our Mothers Day cakes for you to consider.
Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 12th !!
Depending on what you believe in; God or Mother Nature creates many good things, some dangerous, some just amazing but nothing better than a great Mother ! Mothers are amazing in so many ways I couldn't begin to state all of them. What I do know is that a Mother protects, natures, feeds, educates, loves unconditionally, (pretty much like a dog), and would die for her children. Mothers can be tough only because kids are inherently stupid when they are young, impressionable, and fearless. Mothers instill that in her children. Even in the wild if you see cubs and a mother close by you better be careful. They will rip you apart to protect their young and possibly die doing it.
On this Mother's Day, do something more than just a card, or a plant or flowers. Make her favorite meal, dessert or whatever she enjoys the most other than being with her children, sometimes mothers prefer to do the cooking lol and if that is true, let her do it , but clean up afterwards. All our stores will be open for you to give her a sweet dessert or just a few rolls and butter sometimes simple is better! Enjoy the day with the family!
Monday, April 22nd is Earth Day. One of its greatest creations, among many, is wheat. Needed for sustaining life in general, it allows us to make it taste good too! We also make it affordable for you!
In case you didn't know, today is grilled cheese day! In my opinion, the best grilled cheese is grilled on our corn, rye loaf. Just butter both sides with either butter or mayo & put in your favorite cheese. Put the range top ( you don't need a fancy panini grill) on medium and grill it until your favorite brown color appears. I particularly like it well done but that's just me. I also think the second best grilled cheese is made on our sourdough loaf and the seeded snake loaf. However, it doesn't really matter what bread you use, I guarantee it will taste great. I also like to dip my grilled cheese into tomato soup.

BTW you can pre slice and use the Pizza Chiena (meat, cheese and egg pie) the same way as Cheesebread! Use it as a rich snack.
A little about our famous Cheesebread:
Do not waste this masterpiece of a loaf of bread. You know we do not put any preservatives in our products & Cheesebread is too "rich" to eat in a hurry. Therefore, if you have it sliced, then you can store in your freezer & eat it one slice at a time at your pleasure. I eat it only with Genoa salami so it takes me forever to finish it. I take one slice at a time from the freezer & put in a sandwich bag to defrost. Wait awhile & it will be as fresh as the day you bought it. I still have some left from Christmas 2023 & now I will add an Easter one. ALWAYS GREAT! Try it but don't waste it. Now I will have it until Christmas!
All of your favorite Easter pastries are starting to show up at your local our famous
This Sunday, March 17 is St. Patrick's Day & on Tuesday, March 19 is Saint Joseph's day.
