Energetic Soul Dance Studios

There are celebrations and then there is the 50th Birthday celebration for the Timba Titan. This past weekend of July 12, 13, and 14 will stand as the time all the fuss was set aside and dancers that support various concepts, styles, methods, programs and ways to dance to Cuban music all coalesced in Baltimore to celebrate our love of Cuban music and dance. This was all foreseen and motivated by Cedric Teamer AKA The Timba Titan as we celebrated his 50th trip around the sun.
Thank you Cedric for the invite to such an amazing weekend. It was an honor to be apart of your very first event in 2011 and as you say this will be your last event - unless some very interesting things take place.
That means your next birthday you will have to jump off of something to get the same thrill!
The last 13 years have been grand my man! And when - I mean if, you decide to do something again, you know I will be there. With so many people that should get a shout, I will only make this post about you. I will however mention that the panel discussion was something that was really needed and definitely a step in the forward direction.
Well, there are two people that I must mention. Yanek Revilla's ABC thank you for the time you took to just hang and talk at the party. You are a wealth of information. Thank you for sharing. And I must give a special Thank You to Tisha St Clair for my very special gift. You are truly a blessing. To everyone from all over the Country East, West, North, South and points in between, that showed up and showed out at the party it was great sharing space with you all. Until next time - May any love feel your heart, and may the love of Cuban music and dance energize your soul...

Thank you to Julian Mejia for such an enriching time in Atlanta for Salsalanta25. I had such a good time on so many levels. From the opening night with a welcome party that brought together Casineros I still had not seen since before the Pandemic. With music by DJ Mane and DJ Cokie the only thing that could stand next to that was the performance by Michelito and crew. With a debut performance by Michelito’s oldest son. WOW!!!

The Saturday classes were well attended and working with Kati Hernandez is always awesome! The lunch and learn this year was very enlightening for me. To learn more about the background, inspirations and motivations of other instructors that are not Cuban, but promote Cuban dancing in the states, was good to hear. The music and dancing was great Saturday night. I needed more of that. The shows were all dynamic with a nice variety. Unfortunately, I did not make it to the park on Sunday and I know I missed out on some more good dancing. Instead of naming people because that would be everybody at the event, I want to say thank you for the support from the Detroit area people who are representing like "What up Doe"! That has been the best to see you all have fun.

All in all thank you again Julian Mejia, SALSAtlanta- seeing how you have made your mark for over 25 years of bringing people together through the love of Cuban music and dancing has been a great joy to share with you. Here is to 25 more years!

Happy to be back in Michigan after a wonderful weekend in Asheville N.C. Shout out Kenna and Casa Soul Asheville for bringing the AFRO - tImBa Experience with special guest Michelito Herrera featuring TIMBALIVE with Dj's Cokie and Cedric Teamer the Timba Titan! And for the first time, definitely not the last, the introduction of 'Orisha Therapy' to the mountains of Asheville.

Back and settled in MI and oh my what a week in San Fran Cisco! Congratulations to Nick and Serena for 13 years of the Salsa Rueda Festival. That alone is HUGE. I was able to have over 20 friends and students from the metropolitan Detroit area join us this year and their lives have been forever changed. From all the great artist, instructors, and to all the wonderful individuals that we shared time with it was great gathering with you all again and for the first time. Looking forward to next year! I certainly tried to dance with everyone, but of course it was not possible so I look forward to seeing you on the Dancefloor sometime in 2024. Had a great time last night at Orchid Night Club Ferndale MI. It has been some time since I have taught in that capacity. We had a really fun time. Thank you to everyone that came out to experience the evening and thank you to DJ Cisco for keeping us moving all night long. Looking forward to doing it again on March 7th. This past weekend I was excited to teach at the Tri Cities Salsa Congress. I have not been to a Congress in a bit, but this was truly set apart. Celebrating their 10 year anniversary Shannon and Emy not only hosted the event, they handled emergencies, made sure everyone including instructors were always taken care of and they also taught!

This was the first event that I have been to that had a Cumbia room and of course I got my Cumbia on! Being able to connect again with Oscar the only other person outside of Albena de Assis that makes me wonder why I don’t dance Kizomba!

With the previous statement I shall mention Charlayne because WOW! I set in several of your classes and I am a better instructor for it! Loved your presentation.

Max and Tanya through down the whole weekend shout to Houston and Venezuela!

And of course with Ace in the place your Bachata will reach new heights, because your foundation will be strong!

Joseal, Sara and Mario we did not get a lot of time but you are on my mind. See you next year I hope!
