You know that big blank wall at the Albany office? This gorgeous piece of art was created especially for us!! How does one make weathered wood glow like the morning sun? I have no idea, but with Wood has made magic and I can’t wait to display this beauty!!

This is a commission piece that was created for a special person in my life. I chose an early morning image from her collection of photos on Ballston Lake.

I found myself leaning into the feel of the deep water, the morning mist lifting into the sky and the breaking sunlight. The feeling of reflection and simplicity allowed room for a needed tenderness and openheartedness in it's creation. Trusting the slow flow of it's birth. I am thankful to experience art and expressiveness in this way. It is a wish and a dream, for the people in this world who share their hearts and choose love.

This piece is up for my show at Wells Memorial Library through 8/22, before heading to it's new home❤️ And an interesting effect occurred while taking the photo with natural lighting, as the dappling sunlight added it's own beautiful lines.

Here we go again. The “health care system” canceling the providers who research has proven time and again to be the most appropriate providers for low risk maternity care. They should be hiring more midwives, not firing those with the most experience and hiring some wet behind the ears docs who don’t know normal birth from their elbows and who are under the thumbs of their employers and the insurance companies.

HeartSpace peeps, I’m asking for help can you please take a moment to write to the DOH and the governor? This closure affects the home birth community too. This has been a safe haven for home birth transports when we need more tools than we can provide safely at home. The collaboration home birth midwives have had with all the providers at Burdett has been invaluable over the years. NOW is the critical time to keep this gem available to all!!

The Save Burdett Birth Center Coalition is deeply troubled by Saint Peter's Health Partners' closure plan. This is not a serious long-term plan for ensuring safe, timely, patient-centered and culturally-competent care for the 800 to 900 pregnant people a year who rely on the Burdett Birth Center.
