Here's some news for you if you have an LLC:

A new beneficial ownership reporting regime for small firms begins next year. It’s part of the Bank Secrecy Act and run by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network. Certain corporations, LLCs and other entities must report information about themselves and their beneficial owners to FinCEN. A beneficial owner is an individual who directly or indirectly owns at least 25% or who substantially controls the firm. Operating companies with more than 20-full timers, over $5 million in gross receipts and a physical office in the U.S. are exempt from the reporting requirement. Entities in existence before 2024 have until Dec. 31, 2024, to report. Entities formed after 2023 have 30 days after the date of formation to comply. FinCEN will begin accepting reports electronically through its website on Jan. 1, 2024.

Taxpayer Advocate's annual report to Congress indicates that for certain types of relatively common returns, processing by IRS runs on average 360 days! Which of course means many are longer than that. Also, in our experience the indicated average call wait is much longer than the Advocate reports. Although I was able to get through to the IRS this week in under 5 minutes, so improvements have started.
