Have any extra linens hanging around? Snip 'n' Tip, our big FREE community cat spay/neuter event, is just a few days away and we need as many of these items as possible to help keep everyone as clean and comfy as this kitten while they're here! We also use these items in our clinic, cat room, and for vulnerable dogs to keep them comfortable in their kennels. We are happy to accept flat sheets, towels, blankets, and hand towels as long as they're in decent shape (stains are fine!).

We do not need used dog beds at this time.

A special story for you this morning...

We recently started a new volunteer opportunity called "Yappy Hour." The idea is for volunteers to read to our more shy, undersocialized, shut-down dogs, to help them calm down, adjust to the shelter, and learn that people are friends.

The man pictured is Steve. He was one of the first volunteers to start doing participating in this program. Steve reads to our dogs in THREE-HOUR(!) chunks of time. To see Steve with these dogs is nothing short of moving. He sits in the loud kennels and calmly reads a book to these dogs, patiently reading through their barking until they eventually settle. His repeat friends, like Bullet (pictured), are visibly excited to see Steve, licking his hand through the kennel doors and settling in as close as possible to listen to him reading.

Volunteers like Steve work magic with our dogs every single day. While volunteering can involve dog walking and hard physical work, it can also be something simpler, like reading to our special dogs.
