‼️THE RSV VACCINE IS HERE!‼️

Now for private insurance, we have a VERY limited supply of the 50mg dose. This is eligible for all babies under 11lb.

This will be given on a first come, first serve basis. Please call us to see if your child is eligible, and to schedule.

Of note, the 100mg dose for bigger babies (as well as now the 50 mg dose) is unavailable to order ☹️ The manufacturer is unsure when it will be available. To our knowledge, the public health department has this vaccine available for all eligible babies.
We still have stock of both doses for children with AHCCCS/state insurance.

***RSV (Beyfortus) vaccine update!!***
‼️🚨‼️🚨‼️🚨‼️

As many of you may know, a much awaited RSV vaccine is officially available to the public. We have been working hard to ensure we can vaccinate our patients as quickly as possible to protect against RSV this season. It is an ongoing process.

The vaccine options we have available so far are:

*for AHCCCS/medicaid insurances: we have vaccines available for babies up to 8 months of age, and some up to 18 months of age with risk factors

*for private insurances: none at this time, however, we have been able to secure a shipment of the 50mg dose, which is only for babies under 11lbs. We anticipate we will receive that shipment the week of Nov. 7th.
Due to shortages, the 100mg dose for the babies >11lb is already out of stock and we cannot purchase it at this time.

If there is any uncertainty about whether your child can get their shot, and/or if you'd like to schedule, please call us.

This vaccine is very important to us. RSV is a well known cause of illness in kids every year. We want to have it available to all babies as soon as possible. We will keep this page updated with our progress. Stay well!

It’s official: the COVID vaccine is now approved for ages six months and up‼️

We received our inventory of the Pfizer vaccine today and have our COVID vaccine schedule open for scheduling.

⚠️Formula recall information⚠️

We have become aware of the unfortunate recall of a few Abbott/Similac formula products. Please see the attached article below for more specific information about this recall from the Abbott formula company.  Also on this link you can check your specific formula products to see if they are part of the recall. If they are affected, we suggest you put this formula to the side and no longer use it until further notice, and purchase new products in the interim to feed your child.

We have been receiving many calls from concerned parents and we are trying our best to help guide families to make different, yet still appropriate, formula choices to fit your baby’s needs. Home Abbott is initiating a proactive, voluntary recall of powder formulas, including Similac®, Alimentum® and EleCare® manufactured in Sturgis, Mich., one of the company’s manufacturing facilities. The recall does not include any metabolic deficiency nutrition formulas.

Holiday office closures: just a notice to say we are going to be closed half day on Thursday the 23rd, all day on the 24th and again all day on the 31st for the holidays. Please call us in advance if you need to be seen, or for any medication refills or questions.

COVID VACCINE UPDATE: it’s here! We are now scheduling appointments. Please call our office to schedule your 5-11 year olds for their first and second shots (of note, we are expecting high call volumes. Please be patient with us if you are put on hold for a little bit).

Our vaccine times/dates will be 11/16, 11/17, 11/18, 11/19 and 11/23 from 5-7pm. When scheduled for your first vaccine, you will be automatically scheduled for your second dose exactly 21 days later. Please expect to stay in the office for 15 minutes after you receive your vaccine.

COVID vaccination update: I wanted to give everyone the good news that we have been approved for, and ordered, the COVID Vaccine for ages 5-11 years old. We are hoping to get our shipment in this week and will begin immediately administering it to those who want it. We are hoping to do evening hours from 5 PM to 7 PM specifically for the Covid vaccine.  We will keep this page updated as soon as we know when we can start giving it.

Also, a reminder that we have a flu shot clinic this Saturday as well. Call us to schedule if you still need your flu shot (and if we have the Covid vaccine available by then, that will be an option as well). have a good week!!

Well, my last day as an Old Pueblo pediatrician was yesterday so I am officially retired.
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of my patients, their families, my staff, my colleagues, and my family and friends for all the comments,cards,letters and gifts. I have felt quite overwhelmed by the outpouring of love that I have received.
I’m staying in Tucson and looking forward to spending a lot more time with my wife who has been steadfast in her support over the years. Some of you may remember her as my first office manager and her part in establishing Old Pueblo Pediatrics 15 years ago.
We have come a long ways and I look forward to seeing this practice continue to provide not only excellent medical care, but treating patients as family.
So once again, thank you all for an absolutely amazing career and your trust in me to care for your precious children.

Quick flu update: our upcoming Saturday flu clinic (10/30) has been canceled. Instead, we thought we’d offer some evening hours to see if that would be a better option for some families.

Therefore, we are going to do flu shot only hours from 5pm-7pm on 11/1, 11/2, and 11/3. Please call our office to schedule! 💉😄

It's that time of year again: flu shots are now available! Ask to get your child's flu shot at any visit, or call to get scheduled for a "shot only" visit.
