Prop 207 - Pima County Attorney | The People's Office 07/21/2021

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to share this information and please share with anyone who needs.
From Pima County Attorney Laura Conover

- Our efforts to expunge ma*****na convictions throughout Pima County are underway. Beginning July 12, Courts across the state will begin accepting applications to have convictions for ma*****na possession wiped clean, and our team will help those who are eligible, convicted out of our Office, to get it done – *at no cost*. We’re joining with Southern Arizona NORML and our local chapter of the American Friends Service Committee on community outreach to get the message to as many people as possible. Please share our new expungement webpage on your social media channels: pcao.pima.gov/prop207.

Prop 207 - Pima County Attorney | The People's Office Proposition 207 Expungement Petitions With the legalization of recreational ma*****na in Arizona and the passage of Proposition 207, those with certain ma*****na possession convictions can now have their records expunged, effective July 12, 2021. The Pima County Attorney’s Office (PCAO) is pleased...

Hello everyone, if you or anyone you know are having a tough time mentally, take a break and try doing some arts and crafts. Here are a few reasons why arts and crafts can be beneficial:

Self-esteem: The process will give you a feeling of self-accomplishment which can be very valuable to improve your self-appreciation and confidence.
Emotional release: The greatest benefit of art is giving you a healthy outlet for expressing and letting go all your feelings and fears. Complex emotions such as sadness or anger sometimes cannot be expressed with words. When you are unable to express yourself, but you desire emotional release, making art may help you to do it.
Stress relief: Fighting anxiety, depression or emotional trauma can be very stressful for you both mentally and physically. Creating art can be used to relieve stress and relax your mind and body.

If you would like more inspiration come to Project TELA on Fridays for arts and crafts!

Hello everyone, Happy New Year! As we start to wind down and get into our routines again.
Take this time start a habit of mindfulness. Mindfulness is a mental muscle that allows us to “downshift” from thinking mode into awareness mode.
There are many benefits to mindfulness and here are some tips on how to start practicing:
Start slow, start by doing 5 minutes for a few days and than work yourself to 10 minutes and than 20 minutes.
Try to practice 5 days a week.
Practice in the same place and a similar time.
If you need more help with mindfulness contact or come down to Project TELA for a Mindfulness group!

Project TELA is here to support Transgender awareness week. Please take the time to do some extra reading on how to be an ally for the Transgender community!

The obstacles that LGBTQ+ communities face significantly increase for Black transgender individuals. People with these intersecting identities face transphobia and racism, affecting their mental health and well-being.

According to the Trevor Project, "Black transgender and/or non-binary youth reported double the rate of seriously considering (27% vs 59%) and attempting su***de (15% vs 32%) in the past 12 months compared to cisgender Black LGBQ youth."

Much like the roots of a tree that provides support and anchorage, our framework is embedded in values that ignore the historical truths about domestic and sexual violence as being an outgrowth of racism, slavery, classism, homophobia, and transphobia. These systems of oppression give us permission to disregard the experiences of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color – including those who identify in the LGBTQ communities – as having less value at best and non-existent at worst. It is risky for us to assume that these values still don’t seep into the deep corners of our work and influence everyday thoughts and interactions.

Together, we must protect the lives and well-being of transgender folx by becoming allies, educating ourselves, and creating communities that are inclusive and safe.
