Click here to support Save Shot In The Dark Cafe organized by Alex Guerrero With the decline of local business and the continued appearance of high-rises and student housing, Shot In The Dark Cafe has had to endure severe economic change. The Cafe persisted, and has managed to maintain it's space and identity up to this point. We had expected rent prices to increase, but...
Hello everyone,
It's with a heavy heart we must announce the permanent closure of our Broadway location, effective January 25, 2019. The gentrification of congress and the surrounding downtown area has finally pushed us out of this space, following a 400% rent hike and multiple closures under situations beyond our control. We will be back in a different location to be determined soon (hopefully), and in the mean time we ask that anyone who is willing and able to help us keep going reach out either through facebook here or in person at the cafe.
We love you all! This won't be the end!
Yes! We're open for the holidays! Come in and enjoy a warm cup of joe
It's back! We've got sweet, toasty, house-made granola! We'll serve it cold, hot or iced, if you really want. Your choice of whole, skim, soy or almond milk or Greek yogurt.
We're looking for artists to display work for January! Send submissions to [email protected]

Toddy, anyone?
Shot would like to thank all of you who paid no mind to those pesky li'l "sidewalk closed" signs and barged right through. We were pretty scared nobody would know we were here the last few days, but we should have known better than to doubt the tenacity of our customers. Damn the man, and drink more coffee
The crane from the hotel construction is officially dismantled and down, and Shot lived through it with no large pieces collapsing on us. Yay! Come celebrate our survival with some tasty iced coffee or a delicious lemonade to beat the heat.
Hey ya'll! Our wonderful city has decided to put a sign up on sixth saying the sidewalk is closed, but make no mistake, Shot is still here and still going tonight. Come on down and enjoy a nice quiet Broadway this evening!
Hey folks! What are the sort of events you would like to see more of here at Shot? Things like the game nights we've had here, acoustic music more often, the active fomentation of insurrection occurring between hushed voices in the hazy din of our smoking room? We'd love to hear your ideas, and if anyone is interested in holding an event here or anything along those lines, let us know!
sometimes a customer just gets it, you know?
We are closed for our quarterly maintenance day until 6/21 at 4am.
It's hot and it sucks. You know what doesn't? Aunt Kitty's baking skills. Nothing beats the heat like burning hatred, so come on down and get yourself a goth lemon bar or two. Black like our coffee, black like our souls. After all, life's too short to eat sh*tty pastries 💙
Howdy folks! You know all the delicious baked goods and treats here are homemade in-house right? That's part of why they're so wonderful. Every bite is filled with grade-A love, and usually some sugar. Today we've got a fluffy af lemon cake, frosted with pure happiness, and some perfectly tart ginger lemon squares. So come on down and get them while we've still got them. Cuz life's too short to eat sh*tty pastries 💙

But Why a Worker Co-Operative???
- Worker Co-Ops are Resilient -
Shot in the Dark has kept its doors open through the harshest economic times in Downtown Tucson due to its distribution of profit and the commitment of its worker-owners.
We are constantly adapting with group input.
Solutions come from workers at the front-lines of the business.
- Worker Co-Ops are Empowering -
Workers at the Café all have an equal voice.
More work put in goes directly into the worker’s pockets.
A worker can learn a variety of disciplines and step into different roles.
- Worker Co-Ops Strengthen Local Community -
Worker-owned businesses inherently resist gentrification.
Shot in the Dark is completely run and directed by the members of the community that work there every week. Our regulars are our neighbors and peers, and we love sharing our space for artistic and community events.
We thank you for your support
