Thanks for the lovely write up on a beautiful soul, Arizona Daily Star Both Daniela Diamente and Sara Jones are honored to carry on what Philippe Waterinckx created through Tucson CSA.
Supporter of Tucson farming, improving healthy food access, dies Philippe Waterinckx, founder of Tucson Community Supported Agriculture, set up a service allowing community members to purchase from local farmers nearly 20 years ago.
Congratulations to ! James Beard winner! We are so fortunate to have the privilege to partake in his delicious creations weekly.
Philippe Waterinckx
August 15, 1959 ~ June 10, 2022
In February 2004, when Philippe founded Tucson Community Supported Agriculture, there were 15 members, and pickup was on his front porch.
Philippe opened his home because he believed so strongly in the CSA model. He not only was advocating for local food systems, but he was building what he knew would become strong, meaningful connections between the farmers and his neighbors.
As the CSA expanded, so did Philippeās Tucson community. It grew from him and his wonderful husband, Paul, to include the volunteers you see every week, the small children who learn to count by choosing produce from the bins, and our members, who thank him, with all of their hearts, for bringing the CSA to their tables.
We are forever grateful to Philippe, his vision, his dedication, his friendship, and his enduring legacy - the beautiful CSA family that he cared about so deeply.
If you would like to know more of Philippeās journey with cancer, in his own words, you can find that here
https://ringsofwater.wordpress.com/
In the coming days, we will announce a Community Celebration of Philippeās life, where we can honor his legacy together.
