This year Deltrina D. Grimes (DMA Choral Conducting) was an invited guest panelist for Arizona Western College's First Generation Celebration! In 2017, the Council for Opportunity in Education and NASPA’s Center for First-generation Student Success launched the inaugural First-Generation College Celebration. Since then, hundreds of colleges across the nation have continued to mark this date as a day to celebrate first-generation students on their campuses. About 72 percent of the AWC student population is made up of first-generation college goers and nearly 40 percent of AWC’s faculty and staff members also identify as first-generation students. Thank you for your service and advocacy, Deltrina!
