The Amphora pendant is a real working vessel; however, its carrying capacity for tangible objects is quite limited. I recommend filling your amphora with wishes, hopes, dreams, or prayers. The glass stopper falls out easily, so after filling your amphora, glue it shut with a dab of E6000.

Success! Little braided loops allow the Amphora to shift and self-correct without flipping over. The weight of the bottle pulls the necklace down into an elegant v-neck that mirrors the bottles own shape. The Delica bead mix fades to black to draw your eyes to this exquisite lampwork focal piece.

Had the best time painting yesterday with Kristen Fagan Art & Design at the Expressive Booms workshop ! I haven’t painted a picture in more than 20 years and I’m so super happy with how mine turned out and more importantly how relaxing the process was. I can’t wait for the next class!

Maybe if we ask nicely we can get Kristen to come down to Tucson and teach a class at Design & Adorn. Who’d be interested? Maybe this fall?

One challenge of braiding or beading with crystals is that they have sharp edges that can cut thread and cord. That's why for Shine On we're braiding on Soft Touch wire. It's seven strands of micro woven stainless steel wire: strong enough to resist cutting by the crystals, but supple enough to braid. The wire's spring back gives just a little space between each crystal, giving them room to catch the light and protecting them from rubbing together.

Hopefully this post will reach some people, but Facebook usually only shows my post to 1% of my followers.

I can't share the details here, cause the algorithm won't like it, but I can tell you about Delica beads like the ones in the Water Lilies necklace I'm wearing here.

Size 11/0 Miyuki Delica beads are cylinders. They're about 1.5mm wide and about 1.1mm tall. The hole is about 0.8mm in diameter.

For kumihimo, they work up nicely on Superlon Micro (that's the really thin one). No core is necessary. Finish the braid with 5mm or 6mm endcaps.
