Repost from Jewish Community Centers of North America (JCCs):

Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Let us acknowledge with gratitude those who responded to the tragedy, hold close those whose friends and loved ones were lost, and remember all the individuals who perished on that day and in its aftermath.

Say hello 👋 to Jenn Greenberg, one of our long time ECE teachers and our new Jewish Culture + Curriculum Coordinator! We’re excited to share a bit about her in this week’s !⁣🤩🌟

Q:Tell us about your journey with the J?

A: My connection with the JCC began when my children attended Camp J. Witnessing their joy and the enriching activities offered, I decided to become a lead teacher at the Early Childhood Education Center. For the past seven years, I’ve loved educating two-year-olds and now look forward to sharing my Judaic knowledge across all ECE classrooms.

Q:What made you passionate about doing this work?

A:My passion for educating children and sharing Jewish traditions comes from my mother, a retired special education teacher who has always supported my academic journey. Inspired by her, I chose a career in education, believing in L’Dor V’Dor—Generation to Generation. By nurturing our children, we instill in them the compassion to care for future generations.

Q:What is your favorite Jewish holiday or tradition?

A: Rosh Hashanah is my favorite Jewish holiday. I love celebrating the New Year with my family by attending synagogue and preparing a special dinner together. My favorite treat is honey cake, and I enjoy welcoming the New Year with apples and honey.

Q:What are your goals as you step into this new role and what can the students look forward to?

A: I’m excited for the new school year and my role as Jewish Culture and Curriculum Coordinator. My goal is to share my love for Judaism and Israel with the ECE children through fun, engaging lessons involving art, food, music, dance, and storytelling. I look forward to teaching all age groups and collaborating with the ECE staff.

We are thrilled to have Jenn in this new role where her expertise can shine and enrich each classroom with more opportunities to engage with the Jewish values that guide our work! ✡️🕎

Chodesh Tov! 🌙 And now we find ourselves in Elul, the last month of the Hebrew calendar, preceding the start of a new year or Rosh Hashanah! 🍎🍯 During Elul, we are asked to recall, review, and reflect on the events of the past year, so that we might gain more clarity on how we’d like to move forward in coming year. 💫

In practice, Elul is an incredibly potent for meditating and journaling on what was, 🧘📓 and dreaming of the future we wish to be. 💭 We wish for you, the Jewish diaspora, and all of humanity, a year where peace and understanding permeates our shared experience and hope the month of Elul inspires new beginnings that are for the greater good of all. 💙
