Imago Dei Middle School provides Quality Academic, Social And Spiritual Education in Tucson, AZ
On Saturday morning, 6th graders Bill and Ange joined Imago Dei's Enrichment Director, Mr. Frank, for a check presentation at Sprouts #23 (1st and Wetmore). The school earned a generous grant of $6,500 to support expansion of our nutrition education programs that will grow our already successful efforts. The check presentation was one of 424 made by Sprouts and the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation on Saturday all across the country.
With this support, Imago Dei students will be learning even more about nutrition, healthy approaches to their food diets, culinary arts, gardening and more. We appreciate the generous support of Brian and the entire team at Store 23, their customers, and the entire Sprouts organization.
A high energy one-minute teaser clip for the (eventual) Variety Show videos. If you hadn't heard, the show lasted for about three hours and editing is going to take some time; we'll hope to share short clips in the next week as we assemble the final product.
Our last new photos for this Friday night, but our team will be hard at work tomorrow getting even more Chapel Rock all-school camp photos out to Facebook for these amazing kids' families and friends to share.
Sharing even more photos from our week at Chapel Rock camp in Prescott.

It's Thursday morning here at camp and we're in our final few hours of fun before the buses roll back on down to Tucson for late afternoon arrival. Please enjoy more photos from Tuesday and Wednesday activities. The Variety Show from last night we'll hopefully post this weekend (it's mostly video!).
It's time for UNEDITED CAMP WEEK PHOTO POST #5! With multiple cameras and too much fun being had up here in Prescott, we're temporarily going to stop editing our favorite photos in favor of sharing LOTS of photos. Here's another 35 or so photos with great memories and great smiles. With Eucharist and the Variety Show both coming up after dinner, these might be our last posts until later tonight (if the adults are still awake by then!) If we don't post later tonight, we'll get up before the kids on Thursday morning to share even more great photos!

Building on the camp's lessons on teamwork, our students enjoyed Cool Runnings as their Tuesday Night Movie at our annual camp in Prescott.
Diego's won't be the only birthday we celebrate at camp - and this won't be the only video we share this week from Chapel Rock, where all 88 students are having a great time, building friendships and the community that helps them and our school grow.
This morning our entire student body of 88 kids, with most of our teachers and staff (and some of our graduates for extra support) rolled out of downtown on two comfy buses for the 4+ hour trip to Chapel Rock Camp in Prescott. This annual tradition is equal parts community building and fun, with the kids doing everything from big group and field games, kayaking and swimming to ropes courses, "the leap of faith," a variety show and a campfire. Please see our Facebook and Instagram pages all this week and into the weekend for many more photos and videos as we capture this life changing and life affirming week for our scholars.

9 Days 9 Ways to Support Imago Dei: #6 School Clothing Campaign
https://givebutter.com/imagoclothes
Imago Dei provides our students their uniform polo shirts at no cost, but many of our families struggle to afford other school clothing for their constantly growing middle schoolers, like pants, shoes, and sweatshirts or sweaters (yes, even in Tucson!).
We have established a separate donation page in the hopes of receiving $2,000 in support that can be used to purchase gift cards for school shopping. As funds are raised, these cards will be given in $50 increments to the families most struggling with clothing costs. As a donor, you can even pick which stores we buy the gift cards from. If you can give $50, that will directly support one family. But all gifts are helpful and appreciated. Thank you!
As we get ready for the school year to start on August 9th, we're sharing 9 ways that YOU can support Imago Dei Middle School and our mission of breaking the cycles of poverty through education.
#5 on our list: take a class or workshop, commission a piece, or shop at the retail store for - because all proceeds from Santa Theresa Tile Works come back to support our school. Not 5% on a special night - 100% and always. There are projects for all levels of skill and interest, and fun to be had alone, in groups and with families.

We're now only 8 days away from welcoming our largest group of students EVER (while still maintaining our excellent, small school ways!). To celebrate and to win YOUR support for our mission of breaking the cycles of poverty through education, we're offering 9 ways that YOU can support Imago Dei.

Imago Dei celebrates the collective works of Black author, playwright and civil rights activist James Baldwin. Friday marks the 100th anniversary of his birth.
His influence is wonderfully summarized in a brief article by the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History & Culture. You can find that article linked in the comment section of this post.
Check out James Baldwin's works - literally! - by paying a visit to your local branch of the Pima County Public Library.

Imago Dei Middle School: Donate Today Imago Dei Middle School, Tucson - Donation Form
On July 16th our Graduate Support Program (GSP) hosted some Imago Dei alumni for a trip over to Ace Of Escape escape rooms for a little summer fun. Grads were split into teams to conquer "That 70s Room" and "Freeing Frosty." Did our Imago Dei graduates show the teamwork, creative problem solving and intelligence needed to get out of the rooms on time? OF COURSE THEY DID!
Adventures like this are just part of the GSP staff's work to stay in touch with all Imago Dei alumni, tracking their progress toward high school graduation, providing them with academic assistance, and helping them choose and apply to colleges and training programs. To date, more than 95% of IDMS alumni old enough to have graduated high school have done so, and more than 85% of those students are pursuing post-secondary education. We couldnโt be more proud!

Love music? We're looking for music fans to give $19 a month to sponsor violin rentals for six more students who want to start in-school violin lessons in August. You can be a supporting patron of the arts! (Other donation amounts gladly accepted, too.)
We have the teachers, expertise, and space - we literally just need the violins, which we'll rent from local Tucson music stores. Let's "band" together to make this happen for our kids. Learn more today at our Violin page on our website, link in the comments.
