**Due to COVID-19, Tukwila Pantry is accepting clients from beyond its normal service area** We serve the communities of Tukwila, Seatac, Burien and Boulevard Park. The city is home to an extensive retail and business area including Westfield Shoppingtown Southcenter Mall. Boeing Field is located at the Northend of Tukwila. Because of the many businesses located in the city, 45,000 people come t

o work in Tukwila daily, but only 19,000 people actually live within the city limits. South King county has a large percentage of families with children living in poverty. At Cascade View Elementary School, just two blocks from the Tukwila Pantry, over 80% of the students qualify for free and reduced lunch programs. At the Tukwila Pantry we secure and distribute nutritious food to clients. Volunteers from the Tukwila Pantry pick up food daily from Haggan's, Safeway, Cash & Carry, Del Monte, Franz Bakery, LSG Sky Chef, Starbucks, and Target. Weekly the Pantry truck picks up food from Northwest Harvest and Food Lifeline. Gathering this food allows the Tukwila pantry to feed our clients for about 10¢ a meal. Even with these generous donations, the Pantry has certain operating costs for the transportation of food, maintenance of equipment, utilities, and the salary of a Director and a Driver. The Tukwila Pantry is an ‘emergency’ food bank. Clients come to the Tukwila Pantry when they can’t make ends meet. Sometimes they have applied for food stamps but haven’t received them yet, or sometimes an unexpected expense such as a medical bill or higher than normal utilities have interrupted their budget. Sadly, with today's economy and job loss our neighbors rely on the food bank more than ever. The Tukwila Pantry serves other communities as well. There were 16,494 household visits from Seatac, Burien, Tukwila and the surrounding areas in 2015. This is up from the 14,700 household visits in 2013. The clients of the Tukwila Pantry are your neighbors. You may live in a different suburb, or community, but you visit Tukwila and Seatac when you fly to Seattle, or visit Southcenter Mall and the surrounding businesses. You have an opportunity to provide food to children in these cities who are hungry by making a financial contribution to the Tukwila Pantry. At 10¢ a meal your money will go far. ATTN UPDATED FOURTH OF JULY HOURS:

This coming Wednesday, on the Fourth of July, the food bank will be closed to allow for volunteers to go celebrate with family, but we’ll be open the following Saturday as usual!!

Don’t forget to visit our fireworks stand soon! We’ll be open from 9 am to 9 pm until Wednesday, so come get yours before we sell out!

This past Saturday we had a special group of college students come volunteer at the pantry! They came all the way from Penn State University in Pennsylvania. They came here to the Pacific Northwest to better understand how different communities respond to needs such as food and housing. Of course the Tukwila Pantry was happy to have their volunteer services and allow them to get experience in what we do 3 times a week! A BIG thank you to all of you that came out to help, and thank you Penn State for allowing young students gain experiences like this!

This week we had a celebration for the opening of the Riverton Tiny Home Village! All of our residents are fully moved into their homes, dry, warm, and safe. Thank you to LIHI for helping us on this year long project. It means a lot to the new residents as well as the pantry! And of course a HUGE shoutout to all of the city officials and council members who helped push this project to the finish line! 2022 was an amazing year for all of us here, and we are eager to see what 2023 has in store!
