Brand strategy + digital storytelling

PartnerTulsa is the leading organization behind many Tulsa’s economic and community development programs. Tulsa is fortunate to have a group like this, dedicated to making our home a world-class city by expanding opportunities and reducing disparities.

As they approach their fourth year, PartnerTulsa’s 2024 Annual Report needed to reflect their impact in a way that was both authentic and inspiring. We took on the challenge of transforming what is often a data-heavy document into something uniquely human and visually tied to Tulsa’s vibrant community.

Our creative vision was to craft a report that isn’t just informative but truly engaging—something you’d keep on the coffee table and share with others. We are proud of the work we did alongside their incredible team, using thoughtful design to elevate the story of our city.

At the end of the day, it’s all about relationships. Building a target audience is great, but when your customers and clients don’t feel seen, they won’t see your brand.

It’s election season out there, so if you don’t find yourself hand-in-hand with your neighbor, you might as well be beer-in-hand with yourself.

This collaboration with resulted in timeless, American packaging design that all sides can support.

We’re proud to work with some of the biggest and brightest companies and people in Tulsa. It’s an honor to build up brands that make the city we love an even better place to be.

One of our newest collaborations with Welltown Brewing has been a smash hit at the brewery and is flying off the shelves and end cap at Trader Joe’s.

Why? Branding and packaging, to put it simply. The Welltown team saw a gap in the local market for a ready-to-drink margarita. We saw an opportunity to build a sub-brand outside of Welltown, throwing out the existing brand rules and creating something entirely new.

We wanted an unforgettable name and a label that screamed different. So we landed on “Cheewawa” – a name that speaks to the product and is fun to say. We designed funky labels and packaged it up with bright pink 4-pack toppers. It all comes together beautifully to make people do double-take to ask “now what’s THAT?”

Go grab a 4-pack of your own this weekend. You deserve it. 😉

Bora Bora Nail Spa is a non-toxic nail salon that offers unique and relaxing experiences in South Tulsa. With a vision of solving the common industry approach to nails that is chemically heavy and unhealthy, Bora Bora uses non-toxic products and techniques, including its own house-made lotions and sugar scrubs.

As a new nail spa joining a competitive market, our new friends at Bora Bora connected with Labor Division to develop a reimagined website and run an ad campaign to increase customer awareness and conversion. Our team created both photo and video ads using the website's fresh design to guide our creative approach.

THETA, the Tulsa Hub for Equitable and Trustworthy Autonomy, is making Tulsa the world’s leading source for innovations and talent in autonomous systems – where the next generation of tech in cybersecurity, robotics, transportation, and drones is tested and made.

In an effort to secure a federal investment, the team behind THETA approached us to build a brand and Tulsa-facing website that brings life to the initiative, simplifies the messaging and sets THETA apart for Phase 2 of the Tech Hubs Program.

If you’ve spent any time in the Sobo District at 18th & Boston, you’ve got a taste for this district that we recently rebranded. Sobo is a unique area in Tulsa, attracting all types of people from local bikers and corporate executives to award-winning chefs and musicians headed to the national stage. It’s also attracting some serious investment and growth – this will be a destination neighborhood on par with Cherry Street and Brookside in the coming years.
––
The district has been known by a number of names other than Sobo, from South Boston to Devil’s Triangle to simply 18th & Boston. So, an obvious goal of the new branding was to clearly establish the strong yet simple name “Sobo” while also having a gritty and nostalgic feel.
––
With this in mind, we developed a wordmark of funky, throwback letterforms based in a grid for perfect measurements. The new logo is flexible, offering three formats for various placements. We’re excited to see this out in the wild soon as streets, murals and merch begin to reflect the new brand.

After designing the Rosa brand and website, we ventured into some food styling/photography to build a content bank for their social. We also ate 14 tacos a piece on the shoot.

Tulsa, if you haven’t tried Rosa yet, you seriously need to. Our favorites are the roasted duck tacos, fried shrimp and chorizo tacos, and the esquites queso crock (SO worth the extra $$). Their signature are delightful as well, especially the spicy Rosa margarita.

It took long enough but we finally have our name on the front door. Come visit us above our friends at Empire Slice for free pizza smells. 🍕

Rosa is a fresh-to-Tulsa, Mexican-inspired cantina centered on delicious food, top-notch service and d*mn strong drinks in the heart of Downtown Tulsa.

The team behind the restaurant knew they had a strong concept, but needed to create an identity to match. Diving into Discovery, we explored the concept’s differentiators and uncovered the personality behind the menu.

Landing on the name, we wanted to leave its interpretation open to customers. Rosa is not specifically a person, color or flower, but an opportunity for patrons to find beauty in the details and have a unique experience every visit.

We brought these details to life through a full branding system, website creation and food photography, drawing inspiration from the desert’s flora and fauna.

We sat down with Mike Bausch, owner of...well. A lot. But we'll say Andolini's Worldwide to save some time. Mike breaks down being the face behind a brand and the value of sincerity when connecting with customers.

We sat down with Brady Ballew, a Tulsa entrepreneur and all-around quality human, to chat about his life, music, careers and whether or not a hot dog is a sandwich. Brady shares a bit about his learned experience as the owner of Press Cafe x Yoga.

Grassroots Ranch is a regenerative farm in Porter, OK that’s fully committed to sustainable practices for their land, animals and customers. They approached us with a unique challenge: scaling a small, local farm to a national operation.

With this opportunity, the target audience shifted from local Tulsans who frequent the farmers’ markets to families across the US seeking transparency and value in their food. Being a small, caring farm proved as a strong advantage with emotional connection and faith in the product.

After unearthing as many insights as we could from the Grassroots team, we developed a new brand identity that could be perceived as big enough to fulfill nationwide, and small enough to foster trust and personability. We also created a full brand system through color and symbols, bringing ease to the digital customer experience and streamlining the packaging/fulfillment process.

If you’re looking for some of the best meat you’ll ever have at home (seriously), check out Grassroots Ranch or visit grassrootsranch.com to see our work in action.

TulsaIdeaChallenge.com is an upcoming workshop and competition with a vision of getting hundreds of entrepreneurs into a room together to solve problems, strengthen innovative business ideas and collaborate in a format that Tulsa hasn’t seen before.

With a short timeline to strategize and spin a full marketing campaign into action, we began collaborating with multiple event presenters: Atento Capital, Builders and Backers and Tulsa Remote. We defined the event’s brand identity through clean design, a fresh website and simple messaging. To drive large-scale awareness and applications, we created a digital ad campaign with the goal of thousands of signups. The purpose of this event isn’t just to get hundreds of participants but to ensure that anyone curious about entrepreneurship gets connected with the right resources in Tulsa.

Have you seen the holiday cheer Downtown Days of Wonder is bringing to Tulsa? Our friends at Downtown Tulsa recently asked us to develop branding and a website for their winter event headquarters. We're always excited to explore Tulsa's nostalgic art deco aesthetic, but pairing it with holiday imagery made for a unique and fun challenge.

A little to 3 weeks ago when we participated in Art Directors Club of Tulsa’s annual Kern & Burn design competition. 🔥 This event has three 30-minute challenges where we rapidly create a marketing campaign based on some pretty bizarre prompts. In addition to the whirlwind of creative anxiety, participants are surrounded by a full brass band, opera singers and even live snakes. 🐍

Labor Division managed to survive and take home 1st place among some phenomenal creative competitors. We were reminded again from this challenge that rapid creativity and ex*****on are increasingly necessary skill sets in our craft. And it all begins with exploring as many ideas as we can before committing—with a curious mindset—to the ideas that hold the most potential.

Thank you again to ADCT for continually investing in Tulsa’s creative community and providing outlets like this to connect with each other through our passions. You make our city a better place.

We love partnering with organizations generating positive change for the Tulsa community. That’s why when Due North, a workforce development program focused on the underserved of North Tulsa, reached out to work on an updated website and story, we were thrilled to take on the task.

The Due North team was ready for a refresh, both in digital identity and in their approach to connecting with Tulsans. Through an updated story and design, we were able to reframe Due North’s site, breaking down the process of their program and how simple and impactful it is for North Tulsans seeking greater opportunity. We connected with several community leaders that work with Due North to bring recognizable faces to the site, adding essential validity to their program.

If you know anything about Nuggies, you know they march to the beat of their own drum. This Tulsa chicken kitchen, housed within Welltown Brewing with another location in the works, was in need of a catering menu design to match their madness.

After a little research, we settled on a unique, hand-drawn style to keep the menu clean, yet spunky and informative. Our designers got to work digesting the menu and bringing each item to life, right in line with the nostalgic quality of the brand. For the sliders, we broke down each component visually so there’d be no confusion over what differentiates the delicious chicken sammies.

Follow Nuggies for your fill of chicken-nugget-related humor.

9b is a Tulsa-based business made up of nimble data people serving the community. They work to offer data and analytics solutions to purpose-based organizations and are one of only three B Corps in Oklahoma. When 9b approached Labor Division about a new website, we were excited to step into their world knowing we were serving more than just their small team, but the Tulsa community at large.

With 9b’s humble approach to analytics, we dove into crafting their story and website to wholly reflect their mission to be a force for good. The homepage begins with a dynamic illustration and layout that represent 9b’s ability to adapt to fill the gaps of any organization. Real-world case studies were included to provide a greater context of the services 9b offers and how they can better accommodate each customer. The site features images of 9b employees to bring the personalities of their small, but agile and dedicated team to the forefront.

Our friends at Grace & Peace Presbyterian Church recently came to us to reimagine their name and logo. They needed a refreshed identity that communicated who they are today—and moving forward—to Tulsans looking for a new community to call home.
--
Knowing that a name and logo have the power to move outsiders from indifference to intrigue, we set out in our branding process to give them a renewed sense of identity and calling.
--
The use of symbols is common throughout Biblical writings, from simplifying heaven through a simple parable to writing in sand to boldly communicate. We believe that logos carry a similar strength, serving as a rallying symbol within a community and a simple story to those interested in learning more.
--
Our final name, Grace & Peace, reminds their community to extend the same grace and peace they have been given while presenting a place where all are welcome as they are to also join in this story. Our final logo tells the story of heaven meeting earth through the simple symbology of two elements paired with type. The crown represents the divine gift of grace available to all people, while the dove represents peace, a reminder of the restoration brought to life on Earth.

Who We Are
——————————
Labor Division is a visual marketing agency that creates, launches, and refines brands past the expected and into the eye-catching. We do this through thoughtful storytelling, enduring design, and engaging content creation. We are a new shop in Tulsa, only a few months into our journey but quickly growing our clients and team with a new office buildout on the way.

We value people first and believe that innovation begins when individuals connect through “What If” ideas. This begins with our internal team where egos are put aside, allowing ideas with the most potential to be validated. With our clients, we aim to always partner with good, quality people who generate positive change in our community. This mentality always warrants a creative team willing to push the boundaries of expectation. All roads lead to the brand consumer, whose experience exploring a website can be vastly improved by our philosophy.

We believe that safe is no longer an option for those willing to improve the world. If this sounds interesting to you, you might be a good fit for what we are building.

Website Designer Role
——————————

You will develop empathy with the user, planning and designing entire website experiences to help inform and convert them to business goals. You will build primarily in Webflow and coordinate with clients for smooth site launches. You will be fully supported by our team as you learn and grow and will interact directly with clients to present and gather feedback as you go.

You will be responsible for managing your own schedule and project timelines. You are a dependable, hard worker, and appreciate not being micromanaged.
