Fortunately we only do repairs in the attic space during the early morning hours when the temperature is only 95° and not 147° 🥵

Dryer exhaust was “re-assembled” by a roofing contractor because they knew they knocked it loose during the re-roofing of the home 4 years ago!!

We came in and found the work to be very sub-par. But we have to give them a few points for using the tie down strap to hold the pipe above the roofline. 🤣

This is a great example of why we recommend the use of wool dryer balls instead of dryer sheets. Oil from dryer sheet use is why this fine mesh lint screen was so dirty.

The second set of photos shows the other issue with dryer sheets. Dryer sheets often get sucked into the lint trap of the dryer and end up getting stuck in the fan. We counted 12 dryer sheets stuck in this dryers fan. This caused the fan to become severely compacted and the cabinet of the dryer became full of lint which had begun to char.

Thankfully the homeowner was home when operating the dryer, smelled smoke and turned it off before this dryer caught completely on fire!

We often hear our customers ask, “Do I really need to clean my dryer? It’s only a couple of years old.”

Our cleaning this morning is a great example of why it’s important to clean dryers as well and how lint accumulates fast in a dryer when the dryer vent’s airflow is restricted.

The dirtier the dryer vent becomes the more back pressure the dryer experiences which puts strain on the dryer and hurts its performance but it also causes a lot of lint to be expelled outside the drum into the cabinet of the dryer.

The dryer in this picture is only 3 years old and was extremely close to catching on fire as you can see by the massive section of charred lint we removed from it.

It has come to our attention that there is someone on Facebook advertising air duct cleaning service and saying that they are the owner of Twist and Turn Dryer Vent Cleaning. This is a scam!

A few things to know.

1. We don’t clean air ducts. We are strictly dryer vent cleaning specialists.
2. We communicate through professional channels. Our official business page, our website, and main business phone number. Our emails use our company domain .com etc.

We have reported this to TPD and I will probably report the profile account to Facebook as well.

Red Flags That You Might Be Dealing With A Scammer

1. Social media profile will be fairly void of personal identifying information.

Usually just a few photos and vague information.

2. Emotionally manipulative marketing messaging.

Fear mongering or talk of personal financial hardship and being desperate to get their calendar filled up. We never communicate this way and most professional companies don’t either.

3. Really cheap prices.
Everybody loves a deal but beware of someone advertising their services at far below market value. Professional legitimate businesses have higher prices because they are actually paying for all that goes into being a professional quality operation, so dirt floor prices are a red flag.

4. Will try to communicate through non company communication channels.
They will want to do everything through private message on social media or through text and not the listed business number. They may use non local numbers etc.

Not all people who say they clean air ducts are scammers but some of them are, so be on the look out.

This Dryer Exhaust Power Ventilator (more commonly referred to as a booster fan) was completely compacted with lint and not operational. Our customer had no idea they even had a booster fan installed in their system because it was not properly labeled in the laundry area as it should have been.

We see issues like this fairly often. Some systems need a booster fan due to their length if there is no better alternative path available. Whenever possible we try to provide solutions to make the dryer vent not need a booster fan in order to function.

If the dryer vent system does need a booster fan it is vitally important to clean both the dryer vent and booster fan yearly in order to make sure its operating as it should.

🚨 DIY Cleaning Rescue 🚨

We often perform DIY Dryer Vent Cleaning Rescue Missions, where we remove cleaning tools that disconnect from the rod cleaning kit and get stuck inside the dryer vent.

Our technicians got a great shot of our retrieval tool latching on to the disconnected brush head that was stuck inside the system.

Although we are proponents of DIY work and self-sufficiency with a long dryer vent that has many turns in it, it's usually best to call a professional.

Even if a tool doesn't get stuck, we often see dryer vents where a DIY cleaning attempt has actually made the dryer vent's airflow worse. For example, we often see dryer vent systems that have heavily compacted lint in the turns of the dryer vent from people attaching leaf blowers to their system.

We also see people assuming that because "a lot of stuff came out", the dryer vent is thoroughly cleaned when they don't realize that they haven't actually gotten through the entire system or cleaned the dryer vent's termination point.

Friends don't let friends clean their own dryer vents.
