In the works! – Gilcrease Museum

Progress is being made on the interior at the new Gilcrease Museum, with construction crews finishing out the Administration and exhibit spaces. A steel stair floats in the atrium underneath glass fiber reinforced gypsum panels which diffuse light into the exhibit spaces below. Little by little the new museum is coming together!

Project Spotlight - Seneca Cayuga Nation Flint Fire Development

SCN 's Flint Fire Development off HWY 10 and Grand Lake offers a multifaceted destination with a small Casino Mercantile and RV Park with prime lake front access.

The Casino presented a unique opportunity as a companion to SCN's Grand Lake Casino located just to the north of our site. The client requested natural light, lighter toned finishes, and an open inviting atmosphere. The Mercantile functions as more than just a travel stop with options for deli fresh sandwiches, grocery items, and fresh produce for residents in the area as well as the seasonal Lake and RV Park guests. With spaces for 40 RV's, a pickleball court, dog run, and outdoor pavilion amphitheater, the RV Park provides a special lake front experience for weekend trips, family reunions, boat excursions, and fishing trips.

Project Spotlight - Chickasaw Nation Housing Insecurity

Tribal master plan provides vital housing for families and individuals in need.

The Chickasaw Housing Insecurity Campus is a multifaceted site uplifting families and individuals in need with vital housing, community gathering, and counseling opportunities. The Chickasaw name for the project, Chuka-lakoli, means neighborhood – creating a sense of connection and belonging which drove the concepts for the buildings as well as overall site.

The campus includes a Community Building with a large gathering space, administrative and counseling offices, 10 suite style short-term apartments, and a 24-unit tiny home neighborhood. The design focuses on the in-between spaces and how people experience the site.

Project Spotlight - TTT General Store

Welcoming General Store showcases local beef and produce.


For the next phase of their campus master plan, the Thlopthlocco Tribal Town requested a design for a store where they could showcase their local beef and regional produce. The General Store is a combination of retail and restaurant that fills a need in the area for convenient groceries, healthy options, and hot food to-go.

The client's main request was that the building feel welcoming. Inspired by a traditional country mercantile, the modest materials and familiar form invite customers, new and returning, to come in and get a bite to eat.

Project Spotlight 🤩- Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

Unique artwork highlights musical superstars.

The Cherokee Nation tasked us with creating a series of abstract art pieces to be used in the newly remodeled Hard Rock Hotel. Rooms are decorated with musically themed artwork and the corridors display famous musical artists of various genres. Each piece is totally unique and compliments the selected interior finishes within the hotel.

Project Spotlight - Grooper Building

Known as one of Tulsa’s best street art photo opportunities, the Grooper building is the headquarters of BIS, a data and technology solutions company. BIS wanted their new home in Tulsa to be a focal point for downtown and a fun space for entertaining, in addition to being their workplace. They chose a 1920s building in the Blue Dome District, excited to be a part of the revitalization of the area. The design priority for the 12,000 sf of office, meeting, training, and storage space was flexibility—in both ambiance and function. A generous open floor plan and movable furniture makes for seamless transitions between the variety of gatherings the owner hosts. In addition to the welcoming interior spaces, the iconic exterior murals have become a favorite destination in downtown Tulsa.

Project Spotlight - Chickasaw Nation Provider Housing

Chickasaw Nation creates housing for long and short-term stay Healthcare providers.

This housing complex is intended for medical students going through residency programs as well as traveling nurses and doctors. The campus consists of two Townhouse buildings of 5 units each, and three Duplex buildings spread out over a 1.15 acre site. Brightly colored siding panels with varying textures give each building individuality while traditional pitched roofs provide familiarity. Subtle color blocking throughout the interior defines the public and private areas of each unit.

In the Works! – Pioneer Plaza

11-story residential tower gets a facelift.

The Tulsa Housing Authority is updating this 11-story tower, Pioneer Plaza, for its residents. The work includes new finishes throughout, including 201 units; modernized fixtures and systems; and new exterior paint colors. The design, finish selection, and method of work will be in keeping with historic preservation requirements due to the building’s status on the Historic Register.

The project features a rejuvenated exterior and an extensive interior remodel, incorporating robust and eco-friendly materials with a modern aesthetic. With community, well-being, and safety at its core, the mission of Trinity Trails reflects a commitment to providing residents with an exceptional living experience. The revitalized complex will bring a breath of fresh air to the Tulsa housing landscape, offering a blend of modern comfort and sustainability.

Space Exploring 🚀- Golden Mesa Drive-In

Getting our kicks on route 66.

1Architecture was brought on board during the initial planning phase of a drive-in theater located on historic Route 66. We created a master plan, schematic designs, and presented multiple conceptual renderings to be used for a feasibility study for the project. Our designs were based on placemaking principles, drawing inspiration from the Streamline Moderne and Googie architectural styles giving the project a futuristic yet retro feel.

In the Works! - TTT Social Services Building

The Thlopthlocco Tribal Town is in the early phases of developing their campus. The Social Services building will house the tribe’s enrollment and social services departments that provide direct service to tribal citizens, along with disaster response assistance. This project includes a demonstration kitchen, library, media room, and multiple offices for the Tribe’s various needs. The building design reflects the Tribe’s long history of sensitive engagement with the environment and exposed wood rafters, exterior porches, and a tapestry-inspired masonry pattern reinforce the Owner’s vision of providing a warm, inviting place for all Tribal members. Family-owned Local Bank has kicked-off construction for their new branch location in Hulbert, Oklahoma. The first of what will be several similar branches in the region, Hulbert, is an expression of the welcoming community-oriented values of the Bank. The building features large sweeping canopies, an inviting double height Lobby, signature patterned brick and is set in a large, landscaped park. Stay tuned for more as this project takes shape!

Project Spotlight - Saline Courthouse Museum

Restoration of a Cultural icon set in a picturesque landscape.

Built in 1884, the Saline Courthouse is the only one of nine original Cherokee Nation courthouses still standing today. It sits on 14 rural acres, along with the springhouse, caretaker house, and historic cemetery. 1Architecture provided design services to restore the interior and turn this historic building into a museum highlighting the rich history and culture of the Cherokee Nation.

Project Spotlight - Atento Capital

Adaptive reuse project provides a creative space for Tulsa's next generation of entrepreneurs.

Atento Capital, a Tulsa-based investment firm whose mission is to help creative young entrepreneurs get their start, approached 1Architecture about converting a 1930s brick building into a thriving new work space that exemplified their philosophy. This 5,000 sf adaptive reuse project created 18 fully enclosed offices, several small break-out meeting spaces, a large community table for working and entertaining, as well as a large conference room. Commissioned artwork throughout the office provides inspiration and integrates with the architecture to shape a truly one-of-a-kind workspace.

Project Spotlight - Gitwit HQ2
Big ideas come to life in office expansion for Tulsa based design creatives.

Gitwit, a collaborative office of design creatives, expanded their existing headquarters into the adjacent building—calling it HQ2. Previously a downtown bodega, then vacant for several years, the building was a dark collection of isolated spaces. 1Architecture transformed the once closed, dark interior into a bright and vibrant space for focused work and collaboration.
