SYNT opened its doors on 7/9/2018 - As I sit here reflecting on what the past 5 years has provided me… there’s only one word that can completely describe my experience and that’s GRATITUDE.

There are also many other words that come to mind when you startup and run your own business some of which include difficult, scary, extremely busy, demanding, hard work, hustle, crazy, confusing, rewarding, freedom, happy but a good all-encompassing word is GRATITUDE, so we’ll just go with that one! Haha

In these post-pandemic times when the world seems a bit crazy I just remember how grateful and thankful I am to have a gig that I truly love, and clientele that shows me nothing but love and support since day one!

My business was built out of necessity, and I literally started it during one of the most difficult years of my life… going thru a divorce, adjusting to a single income, and severe pay cut from a thankless employer, other legal issues due to coping with life in a destructive way… there was so much negativity in my life at that time… but I am so glad I made the decision I did to start my own business!

It’s so crazy to be to see clients who I met when they were in middle school, now graduating college and becoming young adults! I get to be there with clients I’ve had for over 10 years now Thru some of their most important life experiences, from marriages, divorces, gender reassignments, career changes and the countless number of new mothers whose babies I’ve known since they were literally in the womb! My job is so much better because of you all! I’m so glad to be even a small part of your lives!

So to all my clients who have ever supported me in anyway… and continue to support me… just now how grateful I am to each and every one of you. I never thought I’d be doing this for a living… but the world has its way of showing you who you’re meant to be… and what you’re meant to do… and I’m thankful I’ve stubbled upon this life and this career!

I don’t know what the future has in store for me… as I’ve been wanting to expand and start growing my services and possibly hire employees (nothing sounds scarier then having others count on you and your business succeeding) but I will try not to let my self-doubt creep in (as it always seems to) when the time comes!

As for now… thanks for letting me be of service to you and all of your body parts! 🤣✌🏼

YOU GUYS!!!! I didn’t even realize… today 7/09/22 is the 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY to when I opened the doors to .wax.parlor!!!!

I cannot find the words to properly express to every single client who has walked Thru the doors of my humble little wax studio, how truly thankful I am.

You’ve all changed my life in the most amazing way for the better. I had been going Thru one of the toughest times of my life when I decided to start my own business… which made it so much tougher… but man… was IT WORTH IT!

If this experience has taught me anything… it’s that when life hands you lemons 🍋… you make lemonade… and my clients/friends/family who have supported me along the way… well y’all are the sugar, that have made it so sweet! And every now and again… I may need to add some vodka 🍸💛🤣 🎉

Well…here we are… yesterday marked 2 years to the day as when the world shut down for “two weeks” due to the pandemic! Little did we know it would actually last closer to 2 years…

With the recent cdc guidelines and CA state law lifting all regulations and mask mandates, I am now comfortable with allowing my clients go maskless in my studio, should they choose to. I think I’ll still choose to wear my mask, just due to the amount of people I come into close contact with, as I can’t even afford to get a common cold! Lol

So to celebrate the occasion I decided to do a little special for remainder of March… since the masks are coming off… that now means you won’t be able to hide those mustaches anymore! Hahaha

Well the good news is… I’m SO BUSY that I completely forgot about my companies birthday!!! The bad news is.. I completely forgot it was the anniversary of my opening day 3 years ago!!! July 9th marked the day See You Next Tuesday Opened its doors in 2018!!!

I can’t believe it’s been THREE YEARS!!! Granted the pandemic stole a lot of our time together last year… but I honestly and so thankful for very single one of my clients that I’ve been able to serve over the past 3 years!!!

You all have helped my little business not only succeed but THRIVE, even amidst a global pandemic!!! I know I’m not always the best at answering calls and returning texts… but it because YALL have kept me so busy sometimes my little one-woman show can’t keep up!!!

Hello to my Valued Clients,

As we’ve all heard the Mask mandate from the California Department of Public Health has issued new guidelines starting today, June 15th 2021.

Sola has also recently lifted the mask mandates for all FULLY VACCINATED guests in the common area of the sola salon, and left it up to the individual salon owners to decide whether or not to require masks inside the doors of our space.

While I respect and believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the effectiveness of masks to protect against Covid-19, I will still respectfully request that my clients wear a mask during their service.

I do not want to start asking clients on their vaccination status, and choose to believe the honor system should you choose not to wear your mask in the common spaces of the salon, however when you walk thru my doors, I kindly request that you wear your mask.

Most appointments last anywhere from 15-30 minutes, should you have an appointment that lasts longer then that and really feel like you can’t wear your mask for the length of the appointment, then I will respect your decision to remove your mask as long as you’ve been fully vaccinated. However, I will choose to wear mine and I do have a HEPA air-filter running as well!

Please understand, that I am a self-employed small business owner so if I even get so much as a sniffle or common cold, I feel it necessary to cancel my clients and get tested for Covid. And that greatly effects my income as I don’t get paid sick leave!

Also, the government shut downs totaled almost 7 months last year… so I may be having a slight ptsd reaction to the mask mandate being lifted so quickly! As the last thing I want is to experience another surge and get mandated to shut down again! So even though I’ve been vaccinated… please understand my apprehension to go completely mask-less within my salon!

I am optimistic that with Covid-19 cases continuing to drop, that I will be able to re-evaluate my company policy in the near future, however for now, I am using the “better to err on the side of caution” outlook.

APRIL 15th!!! TAX DAY... VAX DAY... WAX DAY!!!

Today is the day that everyone in CA who is of age can sign up to get their vaccinations!

I’m by no means an anti-vaxxer, but I did have my apprehensions about getting vaccinated at first, and after much research I decided there was more reward then risk, especially since I work with so many clients on a daily basis! So I got my shot this week!!! And it was the J&J one about 15 hours before the recall 😳😫🤪 so you can imagine my anxiousness for the next few weeks!

I do, however, believe it should be a personal choice, and never mandated to put something into your body (not to get too political)...

So if you choose to get vaccinated, I appreciate and respect your decision... if you choose not to vaccinate, I appreciate and respect your personal decision... just as I hope you’d respect mine... I’ve been wearing this mask for over a year now... what’s a little longer! 😷 💉

365 days ago, around this time in the evening... I locked the doors at my shop for what was thought to be a 3-4 week shut down to “slow the spread”... here we are a year later on St Pattys Day and 3 shut downs later... still battling this virus slowly, but surely. It’s truly humbling and honestly I’m a little sad today reflecting on all that’s happened this past year.

As a small business owner, this has been one of the most trying yet somehow rewarding years of my entire life. I am so incredibly thankful for my client base who has been SO INCREDIBLY supportive not only the last 365 days... but the past 3 years and 8 months since my doors opened.

I think I’m honestly a little traumatized now by St. Pattys day as it used to be one of my favorite holidays, but tonight I’m going to stay home... possibly drink 1 Irish beer, and reflect on how truly lucky I am to have survived a global pandemic thus far. Here’s to hoping “the luck o the Irish” continues in the next coming days, weeks, months and years!

Stay safe out there everyone... while it’s looking like there’s light at the end of the tunnel (or a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, rather)... this pandemic isn’t over yet! 💚🍀🏆🌈
