It's expected to be hotter than we're normally accustomed to in Southern Idaho so FEMA provided a few basic tips to stay safe. FOREMOST NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN OR PETS IN VEHICLES; do not walk pets on hot pavement; and please check on family and neighbors. Also we Idahoans are not built for extreme heat (that's why we live so far from the equator!) so please take care of yourself, stay hydrated, stay cool and be kind to others.

'Tis the season for road maintenance. Southern Idaho only gives us a few months when the ground thaws out and the skies are dry enough to repair or replace roadways. And it's a race against time to get it all done before winter arrives.

Crews will sometimes work through the night or at odd hours to avoid impacting traffic on busy roads and other times it requires us to make repairs during your evening commute. You can help by remembering the following:

- Dukes of Hazzard was performed by trained professionals. You are not. Slow down.
- Our first goal is to send everyone home safely to their families, and you can help by focusing on the road and surroundings, driving at or below the posted speed limit, yielding to workers and never using a phone while driving.
- Our trucks carry loads of paint, tar and other road materials. Failure to yield to construction equipment may result in your car being repainted or seal coated.
- Remember that flashing yellow means 'caution'. And flashing red and blue means you must have forgot, and bummer for you because fines increase in construction zones.

For more information about City road maintenance, including a real-time map of city road construction projects is available here: https://www.tfid.org/202/Streets
