It’s been a while since I did a price breakdown! I share this education to help artists understand pricing and to give guests an idea about fair pricing for different services :)

In short, her appointment was from 9-1 and took four hours. For my long term loyal guests I charge $125 an hour (all inclusive pricing)

She got a very full highlight on her LONG THICK hair. We used over 20 ounces of lightener and triple the gloss, treatment and styling products. It’s not the cost of product that ads up, it’s the extra time it takes to perform these services at a high level. I took VERY small sections to get beautiful lift which took an extra hour to get her blonder. I still think another full highlight is necessary to bring the bottom and underneath as light as her top section. We usually do half highlights and she gets her color from her 8 packs of extensions. Since her hair is long enough to go without the extensions we had to do a full highlight! We did a conditioning treatment on her and glossed her/melted her because I had a couple of foils slide due to how many foils we did. Totally normal to happen and the root melt gave her a better blend and grow out around her hair line. If I were to break this out based on my hourly rate, here’s how it would go:

Full highlight $190 (90m)
Extra product/time (30 m) $65
Gloss and root melt (45m) $95
Treatment (30m) $65
Wash, Cut, Style + Curls (1H) $125
Total: $540 - pretty close :)
FYI - for this client with check out and photos we finished around 1:30… it all balances out really.

I hope this helped you a little bit to understand pricing and always know that a thorough consultation and working with your clients budget is the number one way to build a business. Never give them sticker shock and always be transparent. There are so many ways to work with them!
