I’ve been showered with so much love here recently my cup is just overflowing 🥹🌹🐾💙. I have to give a special thanks to my cousins Michael & Sharon Roy and Nana Jean Washington who have served in Tyler ISD for the beautiful carnations and red rose that were delivered to wish me a great year, to Peltier Subaru for sponsoring STEM supplies for my 3rd Graders, and to Jones Elementary School for gving me a reason to smile when I walked into my classroom this morning. DAY 2️⃣ of the 2023 VBS was a SUCCESS!!! 11 youth accepted Christ into their lives this evening. Seeing young people with a desire in their hearts for a relationship with God is the most fulfilling aspect of this event 🥹🙌🏽.

▪️As an online student at Texas A&M University-Commerce, previously known as East Texas State, I underwent many challenges. Completing lengthy assignments, teaching full-time, preserving 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝓙𝓪𝓭𝓮, directing church programs, all while trying to maintain a social life was exhausting. However, I persevered. Through the grace of God, I made it! 💛🎓💙

▪️I was beyond grateful to teach an interactive dance session with the Queens Academy of the Longview Queens United Nonprofit Corporation 💜🙌🏽. Being the cause of the smiles on these young ladies faces, hearing their laughter from building tighter bonds with each other, and witnessing them create hygiene packages for other teenage girls truly made my day!

▪️Last Monday this little beauty said to me, “Ms. Perry I’m getting my hair loc’d like yours on Friday!!!” Early Tuesday morning she told me again with even more excitement than before. On Wednesday she yelled over the conversations in the gym to make sure I heard her say, “Ms. Perry I’m getting locs! I’m going to be just like you!” Thursday creeped in with a reminder about her very important upcoming hair appointment. Even Friday’s school session came and left but not without one last loc statement. Finally the reveal took place this week, and our student-teacher bond grew stronger

▪️This past week my Top-Notch Third Graders showcased the math facts they’ve been practicing in a very innovative way. Since student work had to be showcased for Family Literacy Night, our 3rd grade hallway needed to be decorated in correlation to our Alice In Wonderland themed Book Fair, and autumn is upon us I thought, “Why not combine them all?”

▪️I looked in my closet and what did I find? Just about all the items I needed to be Authur in time
