I have to give my sweet hubby a shout out for making my Scottish baking dreams come true tonight. He drove me to Dallas and back in one evening to meet and spend some time with Coinneach MacLeod, The Hebridean Baker, as he promotes his new cookbook on his US Book tour. He’s the best!

Today would’ve been my Granny’s 103rd Birthday! That is so hard to believe. To celebrate, I spent the better part of the afternoon making her famous, award-winning shortbread. The delicious aroma in my home is making me miss her deeply. I also realized I haven’t posted on here since this summer! Many reached out to see if I was still making shortbread and the answer is YES! I just haven’t nor needed to advertise which is a blessing. I also haven’t posted here as much because we’ve had so many big life changes happen over the last 6 months. With the state of the economy and orders slowing down and my son being in school a majority of the day, I found myself bored and I started praying about going back to work. In September, I went back to work as a paralegal just while my son is at school. My free time has been devoted to spending time with my family, PTA, and church. We lost our sweet Scottie a few weeks ago and that’s been an adjustment as well. You will miss his loud bark when you come to pick up cookies. We’ve just returned from Disney and Universal and what a grand time we had!

I’ve missed you guys and wanted to let you know that I am still baking shortbread, but it has purely been by people reaching out and ordering. You can message me to order anytime. I’ve had 2 massive orders this Christmas, but can absolutely make you shortbread if you want some this Christmas. I just haven’t advertised. Message me to place your order. Meet the Teacher shortbread is out the door…Summer has been miserably hot, fast, and furious. I have enjoyed every second of having my boy home with me. August isn’t my favorite, but I am very involved with my sons school, so I can see him often. I am always making shortbread eventhough I haven’t been great about advertising it. Hiya!!! Incase you’re new here, I wanted to introduce myself. I’m Heather Jones, the sole and head Baker/Owner behind Highland Home Scottish Shortbread. I was born in Scotland, grew up in east Texas, and am in love with my homeland. As an award-winning shortbread baker and keeper of my home, I love keeping elements of my heritage into my space. I’m 100% sassy; Tartan is my signature color, I’m highland coo mad (crazy), and the aroma of shortbread fills the air in my home. I drive a Highlander and I first became a mum to a Scottie Dog. I’m as cliche as they come, but our shortbread is unique. Our 100 year-old plus recipe is authentic and delicious. It’s a family recipe that my Grandmother taught me to make. She’s been gone for 27 years, but her memory is still very much alive with every batch I make. I’m married to a Scotsman and we have one son who is the light and joy of our life. Highland Home was born out of a heavy season of prayer and infertility and God has blown me away with His faithfulness and goodness to me. We love our community and providing shortbread as a way of people to connect and enjoy over good conversation. Our shortbread speaks for itself and I’d love to make you some. It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas and our holiday menu is here! Time to order Santa’s favorite biscuit! It’s our busiest time of year, and our calendar is filling up already! I’ve been fulfilling a lot of customer orders over the past two weeks, so I’ve not had a chance to officially announce my Christmas Menu 🎄🧈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. Orders are already starting to roll in, so I’ll be sure to share it THIS Friday!

In the mean time, I’ll share one of the fun orders I had this week. My favorite Scottish expat “framily” asked me to make some of my authentic, traditional Scottish Shortbread to share with their international co-workers to give them “a wee taste of Scotland”. Our 3 piece treat bags are perfect paired with a coffee/tea gift card for teachers and/or Christmas party favors. I can do any festive ribbons to suit the occasion.
