The Fellowship of Christian Swordsmen

Fall Classes will be starting on September 12! Class days are Thursdays at Pollard Park, Tyler, TX.

Sign up will be available August 29th and September 5th from 5-8pm at Pollard Park.
The classes that make the minimum number of students required and the class times will be determined September 5th.
All weapons and gear will be ordered September 5th to hopefully have by the start date. That means we need you to sign up and pay for any weapons or gear by the 5th so that we can start on the 12th.

All classes are $100 for 10 weeks.
Classes potentially offered for Fall are:

Beginner (ages 10 and up). Practice sword is $35.
Intermediate (must have completed Beginner).
Combat (must have completed Beginner and Intermediate). Combat helm is $65.
Advanced ( must have completed all classes offered).

Potential class times (will be finalized on Sept. 5th) are:
Beginner: 6-7
Intermediate: 7-8
Combat: 6-7
Advanced: 7-8

As the daylight gets shorter and sunset gets earlier we will adjust the class times up by 30 minutes or an hour.

Beginner: 5-6
Intermediate: 6-7
Assorted Weapons: 7-8

It's going to be a hot summer! Please bring water for your students! There is not a working water fountain at the park.
We will try our best to practice in the shade.

All students need gloves for class. Some places to look are: Tractor Supply, your local Feed Store, Walmart, Amazon. Something like this is the best option:

The Sword Class times have changed a little.
The class times will be as follows:

The Squire class did not have enough students to make this time. Hopefully we will be able to offer that class the next round.
After going over all the classes we decided it was best to keep the Beginner class at 6:00. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Please let us know if you are unable to attend class at the stated time.

Sabre Class from 5:00-6:00, taught by Alison Chadwick (this class only happens every few years, so you don't want to miss it!!)

The first class will be before the time change so that is why it starts earlier than originally posted. After the time-change on the 10th, the classes will move to 5:00-6:00, and 6:00-7:00.

Each class has a minimum number of students for the class to make, so tell your friends!!!

It's time for Spring Sword Classes!
Sign Up: Thursday, February 29th, from 4:00-5:00pm at Pollard Park.
Classes Start: March 7th at 5:00.
Cost: Class fee is $100; Practice sword is $35, Sabre sword is $55.
Classes run for 10 weeks finishing up around mid May.

Classes offered (if minimum quota is reached per class) will be:
SQUIRE: For ages 8-10. This class is only offered in the Spring so don't wait! This class is for those too young to start regular classes. Squire class prepares the student for sword training with games focusing on hand-eye-coordination and safety.

BEGINNER: For ages 10-100+. This class teaches basic sword training, safety, and discipline. Students must take this class before moving on to any other class.

Fight Building: Students must have completed Beginner and Intermediate class to be eligible for this class. This class helps students learn how to build realistic fights for stage production.

Sabre: Must have completed ALL of the classes offered to be eligible for this class. This class teaches a theatrical sabre fight style and requires the purchase of a practice sabre. This class is only offered every few years!

The schedule will be as follows:

Squire Class ( ages 8-10) will be from 5:30-6:30.

We are meeting at BERGFELD PARK until further notice. We will try to set up at the same spot every week near the tennis courts.

Classes for this session will be held at Bergfeld Park in Tyler by the tennis courts on the southwest corner of the park because Pollard Park is closed for renovations.
Classes will be at 5:30-6:30 and 6:30-7:30.
The cost of class is $100 for the session. The practice sword is $35. Payments accepted are cash, check, and PayPal.

Squires Class: Ages 8-10 This class will introduce basic sword instruction with fun games that are safe for younger kids. We use a smaller sword for this class.
Beginner Class: Ages 10 and up. This class introduces beginner sword instruction and skills.
Intermediate Class: Must have completed Beginners. This class deepens the instruction from Beginners and furthers the basic skills.
Assorted Weapons: Must have completed Intermediate. This class teaches the basic use of multiple theatrical weapons, i.e. shields, axe, spear, etc...

You can sign up through email. Email back your name and cell phone number, student's name and age and what class they are signing up for. Please send your class and weapon payment through PayPal to [email protected]. Send the payment through the Friends and Family option to avoid the fee.

You can also sign up in person at Bergfeld Park this Thursday, the 25th from 4:30-6:30, or next Thursday June 1st at Bergfeld Park from 5:00-5:30 and classes will start at 5:30.

Once we know how many students are signed up for each class we will determine which classes will be taught at which times.

Beginner Class: Ages 10 and up. This class introduces beginner sword instruction and skills.
Intermediate Class: Must have completed Beginners. This class deepens the instruction from Beginners and furthers the basic skills with more advanced moves.
Fight Building Class: Must have completed Beginner and Intermediate. This class works on building realistic and safe theatrical fights.
Assorted Weapons Class: Must have completed Beginner and Intermediate. This class introduces various weapons and fighting styles.
Combat Class: Must have completed Beginners and Intermediate. This class teaches a combative style of sword fighting that is fun and exciting. A fencing helm is required for this class. Cost of a helm is around $50-60.
Advanced Class: Must have completed ALL other classes to be eligible for Advanced. This class works on strength, endurance, accuracy, and prepares the student for Steel training.

We will be signing up every Thursday starting today through September 1st, from 5:30-7:30 at Pollard Park. Classes start September 1st.
Once we know how many students are signed up for each class we will determine which classes will be taught for the Fall session and at which times. So, please try to sign up before Sept 1st so we can get the classes scheduled!
