A little backstory on Bubba! A member reached out to me last week. Told me about a friend of hers and the horses she had were in bad shape and if there was anything we could do. Bubba had already had colic 4 times. The lady that bought them purchased them from Kaufman Kill pen and basically turned them out. Hence the reason they are in such bad shape. She thought they were both Prison horses, however only Bubba is, the mare is actually an EFT horse (equine embryo transfer facility). Basically a serogat horse. As bad of shape as she was in I couldn’t leave her. She is not quite as bad as Bubba but was getting close😔.
With funding already at a low we will put the money for his vet care, feet, and dental needs instead of using it to purchase a prison horse at the upcoming auction at the end of August, unless we get more donations. The mare will be on us unless someone would want to sponsor her. Both absolutely beautiful horses🩷🐴💙.

We want to thank this supporter for reaching out to us and having her friend surrender these two horses to us!!! We can make a difference! We just need to continue working as a team!

Warning- some content may be alarming. We just got this prison horse in this morning. 9⭐️200BB. This poor guy has been thru it. He will need lots of love, attention, medical help, feet done, dental, and food/supplements. He is a gentle giant and his name will be Bubba- named after Maddy’s father who was killed in the line of duty. His nickname was Bubba!
Please help us get this poor guy back to where he should be. Any donations are appreciated🐴❤️🧲 Mail- 100 E. Ferguson St.

Important information

It’s been a very busy, exciting, and relaxing past month! I tried to keep up with everything but not much service where we were. In fact not even a TV! Which brought us together more! But enough about that!
There will be an upcoming production prison horse sale Aug. 31 in Bryan, Tx by Elite auctions, they do a great job!
We will be attending and will try to get as much info as we can on each horse.

With the name fundraiser for the Louisiana prison horse we raised right at $500 which went towards 100 bales of hay for the horses. We thank everyone so much for participating in that fundraiser!

Now we must raise money for the production sale auction and are asking for y’all’s help in any way possible. Our funds are very limited right now, so we will be doing several fundraisers before the auction. We ask that y’all keep an eye out for those fundraisers and please donate if you can.

Our first fundraiser will be for a Texas Prison & Police Horse buckle made by Sheridan Buckle Co. slots will be $20.00 each and we will have 50 slots. If more slots are needed then we will add more! The buckle waffle will end on July 31st and a winner will be drawn via live video.

Remember this money will go towards horses in need at the auction. We would like to purchase 2-3 if possible!

We weren’t able to go live like we had plannned tonight, however it was a great night. Paisley 4⭐️160N and Freckle’s 6⭐️6SS were amazing! More pics and videos to come💍♥️🐴!
2 of our favorite Texas Prison horses! Thank you to all who helped me choose!

06/20/2024

Yesterday was a busy day for the rescue. Took 3 horses to the vet; Louisiana had a great check-up and no issues! Paisley had to have her cancer spot rechecked, looking much better however he did freeze it 2 more times just to be safe!

Gabby (not a prison horse, but is now our official TPPHR cheerleader😊) had a rough visit. We were finally able to catch her thanks to the help of Shanna and Maddy! We found out the reasoning for her being so skittish and bucking. This poor mare had a bad case of mastitis. They drained 5 bags of puss out of her uterus, gave her IV antibiotics, and we had to give her 4 shots every 2 hours throughout the day. Had we not gotten her in she would not have made it a month. This morning she came straight up to me🩷. Also she is not 10 years old like we were told more around 18-19 per vet. I’m very thankful that we saved this mare she is a beauty and gets along great with the prison horses!

For the afternoon we had the farrier out to give everyone there pedicure! Everyone received a good report, however we did have to put shoes on Paisley’s front feet. Anything for these sweet babies.

The grands had to check out all the horses and make sure they were lined up and ready for the farrier♥️🐴🧲

Get ready for the wildest wedding ever! Tim and I are tying the knot with a couple of Texas Prison Horses as our wingmen. Freckles and Paislely, you better be ready for your big moment! We'll try to stream it live, so y'all can join in on the fun on June 22, 2024, at 7:15 pm!

06/14/2024

Join us in naming our first ever Louisiana state prison horse! This sweet 17-year-old rescue is in need of a proper name. We saved her from a kill pen two weeks ago and she's still adjusting, but with time, patience, love, and plenty of food, she'll flourish. Despite her 2 year rough past, she's already showing signs of being a gentle giant at 16+ HH. Help us give her the soft retirement she deserves by donating and suggesting a name for this beautiful horse.
Please message us with Louisiana’s name and the empty number you want. Each number is a suggested donation of at least $10. We will update the grid below as names comes in! Drawing will be held July 4th!!!

WARNING please read:
I have a warning for everyone looking for the perfect hose. Stay clear of Briana Laufler. Sometimes she has prison horses and some not. However she lies about there age and a family got hurt, kicked and made contact with dad. Has bitten them many times and now the lady is out $4k. Briana has said the horse was ten but after dental check she is more around the age of 18, also the horse was supposedly 100% sound, however after a vet visit she has cancer. Also DO not trust whatever she says. Supposedly a kids horse but the horse needs an above bigginer rider. These people are just trying to find the right horse for there children.
We have already had one run in with her over a prison horse. Please watch who you buy from.

We always love when the equine dentist Jason comes out to maintain there teeth! Everyone had a good check-up🐴🧲♥️

Bringing up the heard for dinner time is always fun! Poor new girl (Louisiana) is still in quarantine but has a big pasture with lots of grass, breakfast & dinner, lots of grooming, fly sprayed, salt block, water, and tons of loving♥️🐴🧲.
Be on the lookout for our upcoming fundraiser to help name her!!!

Photos from TX Prison & Police Horse Rescue's post 06/06/2024

We would like to introduce a first for our organization: our first Louisiana State Prison horse!

We have confirmed that she came from the notorious Angola Louisiana prison and was used in the same jobs as our Texas prison horses.

She is a tall girl, standing approximately 16.2 HH; however, she is thin, so we will address that.

We have a full list of veterinary tasks to be completed, as well as visits from the farrier and dentist.

We paid for her out of our own pocket because the rescue does not have the necessary funding available.

We need your help in giving her a fitting name that reflects her Louisiana heritage and her successful transition to a lifetime of safety, ensuring she never goes hungry or suffers abuse.

We also would like your opinion on us supporting an out of state prison horse? Should we add them to our rescue program???

06/05/2024

Good morning! What a week already🤯!This Texas weather has gone mad with all the rain. Out of our 46 acres all but 15 our under water. Horses are doing well just tired of walking in water.
Our new Louisiana prison horse is being picked up as we speak! Can’t wait to meet her!
Miss Paisley went to the vet yesterday she had a big spot inside her nose. It was a cancer spot and they were able to freeze it off and she will go back in 2 weeks to have it rechecked.

I’m going to tell off on myself here, our new palomino mare, Gabby (not prison horse) we rescued took me for a ride on Monday. She is very skittish and I guess I’m just used to the prison horses now and just getting on. Not with this one, she put my butt on the ground. Getting bucked off at 48 is a big difference than when I was 17😖. I only tell you this because this is why we stick with prison horses. I’ve had a few try me, but never throw me like this one. Want a good horse you don’t have to worry much about go with a prion horse!!!

We would like to introduce 9⭐️799GP aka Spicy! This girl is full of spice and fun to work with! She is fitting in great with the other prison horses!
