TJC Earth and Space Science Center announces its summer schedule for now through Aug. 31, with operating hours being 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays.

TJC has free New Student Orientation (NSO) sessions for students starting in the Fall. These one-day sessions will be held June 11-Aug. 5, on the TJC central campus.

All TJC sites and classes/activities will resume today, June 5th. Power has been restored by Oncor.

As our students and employees reside throughout East Texas, please assess your local conditions and make a personal decision regarding travel safety. Travel carefully, stay aware of road conditions, and prioritize your safety. If you are unable to attend, please inform your professor or supervisor.

We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we are grateful for the hard work put into restoring power and services to TJC facilities.

Due to power outages, storm debris, and for the safety of our students, and employees, all TJC locations will be closed, and classes and camps will be canceled on June 4, 2024.

The health and well-being of our students and employees are our highest priority, and we urge everyone to exercise caution during the storm clean-up.

Any updates regarding operations on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, will be communicated later Tuesday afternoon once school officials further assess the conditions.

TJC honors service members who gave their lives for the cause of freedom.

Last week, the TJC Board of Trustees expressed their appreciation to retiring board member John Hills for his 21 years of service, bestowing upon him the title of Trustee Emeritus.

Dr. Paul Latta was sworn in as the newest trustee while Mike Coker and Lonny Uzzell were sworn in to continue their leadership roles on the board.

Upon reconvening after the oaths, the TJC board elected officers for the coming two-year term, with David Hudson elected president; Uzzell, first vice president; and Clint Roxburgh, second vice president.

Jayla Wroten, a psychology student who will graduate from TJC this Friday, stresses the importance of getting involved and seizing opportunities. Jayla became heavily involved in TJC’s Alpha Omicron Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and was one of 15 students in the nation to earn the 2024 Hites Transfer Scholarship.
