The $3.6 billion Proposed FY 25 Budget includes the City Manager’s proposed budget, the Mayor's Recommendations to the City Council and the Proposed FY 25 Capital Improvement Plan. The proposed budget focuses on key areas of investments identified in the Long Beach Strategic Vision 2030, among other critical priorities.

We are LIVE at the unveiling of the new pet food pantry for people experiencing homelessness.
The pantry is sponsored by Project Street Vet, a nonprofit serving pets belonging to people experiencing homelessness, and Kismet, a new pet brand co-founded by entertainers and entrepreneurs John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. Kismet will donate over 2,500 pounds of food and treats for dogs to the Project Street Vet initiative. The establishment of the pet food pantry builds upon the City’s efforts to collect pet food, among other needed items, through donation drive-thru events and collection boxes at public libraries since early 2023.

In July 2023, the Long Beach City Council adopted a resolution recognizing July as Disability Pride and Empowerment Month in honor of the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in July 1990.

Every year this month our shelter experiences an increase of pets lost because of fireworks. Finding a space for all the animals becomes a challenge, but you can help! Learn about fostering a pet for a month. Meet our foster candidates and choose your foster match! ✨ Tomorrow (July 2) is the last day to visit our shelter to participate. It’s by APPOINTMENT ONLY. Alongside our Long Beach Community Development department we 🎉 celebrate the grand opening of 26 Point 2, a new 77-unit affordable housing development for low-income individuals experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness.
The development by Excelerate Housing Group is comprised of studio units and residents will have access to a multi-purpose room with a kitchen and lounge, outdoor courtyard and barbecue areas as well as onsite social services through Harbor Interfaith.
City officials are joined by Supervisor Janice Hahn and representatives from the Los Angeles County Development Authority as well as executives from Excelerate.
