Im Goin For Broke 4th in the 1d out of 66 Mosinee WI 7-18-2023 Results in comments There isn’t enough good you can say about this horse. He has the personality of a little human. He plays w you in the pasture, you call his name and let him know he’s going to go race or go to work and he comes running w a willing heart. He is great about telling me when something is wrong because he becomes dramatic about it, which is great. I have no question when something is wrong. With that being said the Derby’s and the road have been hard on him so we slowed it down a little between Breeding and Running. Ashley has done so much for him and I couldn’t thank her enough so while she is back on the road, he is home and in grassy pastures every night. I have been trying to keep him legged up and will shoot for the Breeders Challenge or the Pink Buckle. Before all of the bigger races I will be joining Melissa Mecham in Idaho for the Paul Humphrey clinic as this is Jexs Barrel Racing foundation and I am always seeking to do better for myself so I am better for my horses. The best part of this journey is the continuing knowledge 💕 I can’t wait to see all the joy and dreams come true his offspring will bring families like he has ours.
After a long couple of weeks of being on the road Jex will be home for two weeks. After making the qualifying round for the Breeders Challenge in Memphis TN Jex made his way to Huron SD to the Heartland Futurity/Derby/Maturity and Ashley and Jex managed to Take home the 2D average Buckle in the open and placed 6th in the 1D both days in the Derby.
Lucky dog productions 2nd go 15.063 27th in the open and 8th in The Breeders Challenge Derby adding to his earnings Always room for improvement but still incredibly proud of these two and what they are accomplishing in such a short amount of time
This Team is headed south to the Ruby Buckle in Guthrie OK. Trying to get to barrel races so Ashley and Jex can get used to each other has been a bit of a challenge with Wisconsin weather lately, saddle fitting has been a small challenge, and finding Chiro appointments haven’t come easy. With all of the recent changes I am happy to announce that the barrel races Im Goin For Broke has went to in the past two weekends go as follows Chism Trail Ranch-Merrill, WI 4/2/2023 1st Open 2nd in the 2D with a 15.3 2nd Open 2nd in the 1D with a 15.0 SC PRODUCTIONS - Winona, MN 4/8/2023 Frontier Derby Slot Race 7th in the 1D with a 15.204 Open 4D 2D Champion with C/O 15.204 *video is of Frontier Slot Race in Winona I can’t be happier w the amount of pressure I add to Ashley and watching her overcome. Congrats to her Big win with Aint Seen A Love man with winning the Futurity and the Open as well as taking the 2D championship buckle and check with Jex. 🤷♂️🙈 I had to mute my drill sergeant voice 😂

Jex had quite the workout this weekend. He started with working the flag a little and ended with doing some drills around the poles. A big part of this drill was getting him comfortable especially as stallion, with any horse coming up on him and him behaving with any horse in front of him, while getting to the outside of your pockets. In the drill there was a wide range of levels between riders, their speeds would change and their positions. Was great to watch him think his way through, work and, move. I wish I would have thought to pull the camera out for his drill around the poles by himself so you could have all enjoyed watching him as much as I did. Holy Wha jaw dropping watching his wheels move when he worked alone👏🙌. Now he patiently waits to meet Ashley Peterson this week after her return home from The Patriot 👏👏. If she lets me I’ll try and get a sneak peak of their first workout 🙏
