This weekend was so much fun and full of fishing! Saturday I got to fish and see and her beautiful lil family. We went after some slabs Saturday AM and chased flags in the PM with quite a fun crew! It’s always so fun having friends up this way seeing their faces when they pull these babies up. We kept enough for a meal and now I can’t wait for fish fry and trying some of ‘s crappie burgers. Sunday, and I explored some smaller lakes on our bucket list with and . We targeted trout on one and explored two new lakes, finding bb crappies and one lake completely empty. Each day brought beautiful daytime temps still below freezing; I love puffer jacket weather. 🫶🏻

Ice report: roughly 3.5-4 on the 5 lakes we fished. Snow cover varies 1.5-3” - it is really building with these temps and is only going to get better! As always with early ice have your safety equipment on you and keep spudding. 🧊

I like to share a little photography here and there to mix up the feed, so here is some magic from December in Green Bay when and I hopped in the boat with and ✨ I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them (thanks for some camera assistance and great shots as well to all three when I was occupied with fish 😉) Dori and I always say “crazy stuff happens when we fish together” this night couldn’t have been more true; two muskies, one first and one PB and some great walleye fishing indeed.

I absolutely love when I can find and utilize other light sources in low light situations. Besides the city of Green Bay having perhaps the best evening sky light; headlamps, electronic screens, and cell phone lights all have been super helpful in capturing the vibe I’m looking for. I’m so pleased with how these turned out and can’t wait for the next evening I get to play with the camera.

I finally got the scratch the tip up itch over New Years weekend. The last time I was on ice was December 17 before Monday and Tuesday. Both days, bass were the hungry guys; they’re so fun to catch on tip ups! Looking forward to chasing more flags this weekend- do you have plans to get out or are you still waiting for ice?

As we wait for the beginning of a brand new year, looking back on 2023 feels like flipping through a well-worn journal. It’s been a year of highs – from launching my business, traveling to fish and pursuing what I love doing most, hitting personal milestones, finally finding my people at 31 years old, and discovering the power of resolutions. However, this isn’t a brag post – it’s a testament to keeping resolutions. ☺️

Setting firm boundaries, prioritizing my happiness, and unwavering focus were my top priorities. At the core was a commitment to solidifying boundaries and surrounding myself with the best friends who uplift and keep me on track and spread the support around to eachother like confetti. 🎉 Finding these true best friends who do it all has been a game-changer.

I’ve also learned the art of letting go. Thirty days ago, I had my wake up call to kick alcohol after falling and giving myself a black eye.. I’m kicking booze to the curb and plan to keep it that way into 2024. This has been a lesson about ditching what doesn’t serve me; whether it’s alcohol, toxic friendships, etc.. The truth hurts to hear but I want to tell you; stop watering plants that don’t want to grow, stop trying to sit at a table you’re not welcome at. I promise things get better when you keep some water for your own cup. 🪴

Through challenges, losses, and goodbyes, I’ve come out stronger and surrounded by genuine connections. As you step into the new year, set intentions that matter, picture the person you want to be on December 31st, 2024, and enjoy your journey. 🐾 May God bless you in the New Year. I’m so ready to keep my own momentum going and can’t wait to see what comes by way.

Wishing for Chill’r weather.. itching to chase some tipups and get back to fishing. While we’re daydreaming, what’s your favorite snack or beverage for a day on the ice?

Me? I always got a couple in my bucket (Tropical Dream’r and Wild Cherry Chill’r are my faves!), and snacks on deck I love me some Nerds Clusters, chocolate, Funyuns, or Dotz Pretzels. 🤣

Two Muskies and PBs in a week? I need to buy a lottery ticket. 💀

Last Saturday kicked off our holiday road trip and the first stop was to visit and for some fishing. Since winter’s still being temperamental, we headed to open water. Funny being on a boat at the end of December but when life hands you lemons right? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Couldn’t have asked for better conditions for a night out of walleye fishing! Hoodie weather, not a ton of boat traffic, and enough light from the city to see everything. Didn’t take long for us to each get a walleye in the boat.. and then if you haven’t seen- pulled up her first muskie! Quiet celebration and some photos and she was released! Few more walleyes and we kept ‘er movin.

A few turns later I was up again. Jimmy handed me the rod and both he and Jay “it’s a big one, take it easy.” Keeping my nerves together felt like forever, I thought I had a thirty inch walleye on. 😂 and to our complete surprise I hauled in a second MUSKIE for the evening. Jay with the net job (after a scary miss 😅) and this girl was in the boat! Few photos and a bump and she was released successfully!

We continued fishing the night and caught a few more walleyes, and eventually called er quits and got some bevs with our friends Sami and Alex. A wonderful Saturday indeed! Thanks again Dori and Jimmy for having us down and in the boat!

Completely stoked I got to watch and cheer for one of my best friends hauling in her first ski and over the moon about catching a second fish in one week’s time and PB’ing AGAIN. Any guesses on length? 😜

Ready to get back to more of this.. freeze lakes freeze! ❄️

Happy Walleye Wednesday! Last week on Upper Red was a dream! Couldn’t have asked for a better trip from the company and weather to the fishing! We gave these walters a run for their money and had a blast. I highly recommend access from Beacon Harbor Resort for an amazing experience!! Thank you!

We were using a variety of baits; some successes were Rattlin’ Flyer Spoon, Pinhead Pro, Forage Minnows - paired with my trusty 32” Eye Sickle Sabre rod! And good ol’ fashioned tip ups using a sucker minnow! The farther from the crowds, the better we did.

Happy Tip Up Tuesday! 👹 I have been so excited to share this fricken story with you all since Saturday!

This weekend we hosted a group of our friends who’ve been itching to get on the ice at our house. Saturday morning was a very fast morning crappie fishing. Everybody caught their 10 and we were off the ice in a matter of a few hours, grabbed lunch, and went back home to regroup and get out for an evening of flag chasing.

If you know me, I love tip up fishing more than anything. It brings me back to being a kid, going fishing with my family and chasing flags. All the good feels. Jay and I “worked like surgeons” taking our time to set up and find weedlines to place our tip ups over for these early ice walleyes. We are good team players and take turns. I missed the first fish I set on, and next Jay pulled a pike. We still had one tip up to set up when we walked by a flag and it went up. Jay said “Your turn babe. Take it.” I got down on the ice, and the spindle went from slow turns to fast. I thought oh we got a pike on, I waited til I felt the fish and set.. and immediately went “this feels like a big fish.” It didn’t fight or head shake, so I jokingly said “oh maybe it’s a musky.” Then thought maybe I had a giant walleye on. This fish took me on several runs for another 4-6 minutes and we could sort of catch glimpses underneath the ice but couldn’t quite make out what we were seeing.. until it swam under the hole so slowly and calm. “It’s a fricken musky!!!” It went on a few more runs and under our knees another time or two, sort of got its head out and it ran again. Finally after tiring out, I got her head turned up and assisted on pulling this BEAUTIFUL 38” musky out. Can you tell how excited I was?! 😂😂😂 Thankful for friends like (and Jay) who’s had more experience with muskies for getting her unhooked quickly to snap some great pictures (courtesy of ) and let her swim another day for someone else to enjoy one day.

My first musky caught in 2 years, my first musky through the ice, and a new personal best fish, beating my previous of 34”. A beautiful surprise and core memory I’ll hold dearly forever. 🥰

The has been having a heck of a good time up here on Upper Red Lake chasing walleye! Beacons Harbor Resort has been such a wonderful host to us. They offer sleeper shacks for lodging in early season and shuttle rides onto and off the ice. It’s such a slick run operation and we highly recommend it for your trip to Red!

That’s a wrap on tradeshows for me in 2023! Arrowhead Ice Fishing Show was a success for team ! We were so well received by Minnesota these past two weekends and it’s an incredible feeling to see this team work and grow this brand! We’re making waves and I’m so proud of everyone! Slinging rods, jigs, plastics, and Feisty Fry plastics, more of the Midwest is covered for quality ice fishing gear! Chatting ice fishing with folks and seeing them taking home our rods and tackle with smiles was infectious. A lot of laughs and good times this weekend!

So happy to be a part of the LE family! ✨

Photo dump 1/2 from the ! Year 3️⃣ working my favorite tradeshow was an absolute blast. I had the pleasure of working with at slingin’ ice suits, heated gear, and our 2023-24 ice fishing casual line. I also was insanely excited because I got to work doing social media coverage for the show itself! Meeting up with the folks you follow along with and cheer on online at this big reunion is the most fun way to kick off our favorite winter sport and get stocked up on the latest and greatest winter gear. ❄️

We’re officially back! My favorite time of year. A chilly one last night for a short fish, couple flags but no fish brought topside. Still can’t beat the first ice and a gorgeous sunset to watch!

In other news, it’s my Friday today for my day job! Tomorrow through Sunday you can catch me at the with - I’ll also be working some social media with the show itself! Can’t wait to be back at my favorite show and see some great people again to share excitement for our favorite season starting! Are you going to the show!!?

That’s all she wrote for deer season 2023. To say it’s been a rollercoaster is an understatement, but I’m proud of the work I put in and the lessons I learned from it.

I spent more hours in a tree than I could ever keep track of, saw a lot of neat stuff and animals, I missed two bucks during archery season, and probably the most unfortunate part was being unable to recover two deer and I beat the absolute p**s out of myself over it every day.. it’s incredibly disheartening to fail at bringing home the animal you intended to bring home by wounding it and/or not recovering it. After the last one, I hung up the crossbow for the remainder of late season until next year where I’ll be spending a lot of time practicing in spring and summer.

Jay filled the freezer for us this season and I am so proud of him. While many would consider tag soup a failure or waste of money, I’m sitting here more proud than ever that I truly did give this season my all. I’ll always keep it real: the highs and the lows. Nobody gets through life with perfection. This season brought blood, sweat, literally tears both happy and sad, lessons in patience, lessons in practice, controlling the nerves, and more.. Cheers to those of you who harvested, to those of you who lost a deer, and to those of you who are sitting in the same spot as me. For now, cheers to the season, the sport, and bring on ice season. 🍻 I’m gonna enjoy a nice old fashioned and some fresh jerky.
