Argonaut Moving The best choice for movers in Orange County
Some people go to Cars and Coffee, or Vintage car meet ups. There was a Uhaul Meet up at the Public Storage over in Irvine, CA.
The nice thing about moving season coming up is that hopefully we wont have to do as many moves in the dark. In the off season I recommend using a larger team so the job doesn't go super late into the evening. In Fall and Winter, it gets dark around 5PM which sneaks up on you faster than you think.
We did a mover for a Special Forces Navy Field Medic and he had this dolly from "work". I just wanted to share it because its one of the beefiest dollies that I have ever seen.
Its hard to believe its been over 3 months since out last post, but it has been incredibly busy especially for an off season. The good news is that all of the Argonauts are in tip top shape and ready to go for moving seasons.
A quick PSA is start scheduling your movers because appointments are going to start getting snapped up. Not just for a new company like us but for all moving companies.
Quick unload of a 10 foot truck. Done in just under 30 mins with 2 guys.
When families are worried about their carpets getting dirty from movers, oftentimes they will ask our team to wear shoe covers. This can present a safety risk for our movers as especially on carpeted stairs and lifting heavy or delicate items can cause our helpers to slip or trip.
There are plastic floor runners available to protect carpets, however those can be quite pricy and can sometimes leave a sticky residue on flooring. So instead we opt to take our shoes off whenever we have to walk on carpet. It really slows the process down having to constantly put on and take off our shoes and isn't entirely safe either.
To make the process as efficient as possible, stage as much stuff in a buffer area where shoes can be worn then the team can take their shoes off and move all that stuff into carpeted areas in one session. Instead of having to put on and take off shoes for each item.
Warehouses need movers too. 160 Boxes and 4 offices of furniture with only two guys.
No fees for assembly or disassembly.
When packing or moving it can get overwhelming at times. One quick tip when I was getting trained was to go room by room. When taken as a whole it can feel like it will take forever or that you aren't making any progress, but if you can clean our a room and check it off as done it helps give you a sense of progress.
Even as pro movers we can fall into the mindset of overwhelm and at times like these we take a quick pause and pick a room to clear out and set that as the goal instead of thinking about having to clear out the whole house.
If you are extremely worried about a particular item then there is no better way to protect it in transit than having it crated. We have moved giant ceramic vases, statues, pool table slates, artwork, and chandeliers that have been crated and it offers the maximum amount of safety.
With that maximum amount of care also comes a higher price tag so you have to evaluate what kind of risk you are willing to take with your items. I would say 99% of the time a moving blanket with stretch wrap is sufficient, if you want to level it up you can throw some bubble wrap in there with it, but for that 1% it could be worthwhile to get an item crated especially if its going cross country or even overseas.
For me the consideration would be the value of the item to be transported. If it would cost me over $200 to replace it then I should probably consider getting it crated.
Something we get asked a lot on moving jobs is "do you do this everyday?" and "don't you get tired?". I'll never forget the time when one of our foreman replied, "yes we do this everyday and no we don't get tired". Afterwards, one of the new helpers asked the foreman "Are we really not allowed to get tired?".
Our team is full of very experienced movers and I having done moving for so long it can be easy to forget that moving is very exhausting work. I remember my first two weeks falling asleep for 15 mins while riding in the truck between loads and unloads, but after about a month your body gets conditioned to it.
Unloading a 4,000 pound shipping crate? No Problem! We got you covered.
Didn't think about what to do with the crate after its unloaded and worried about your HOA getting on your case? No Problem!
