✨STARS✨ “In addition to enjoying the wonderful, and thoughtful experiences presented by the First Presbyterian Church, I’m particularly grateful to the church’s generosity in giving the Hudson Little Free Libraries a notable spot for one of our libraries on their grounds, and a perfect spot inside the church to store our books. Their open heart defines community.” 📚 Susan Simon. co-steward. ✨STARS✨ Peter Frank . “ When I think of First Presbyterian Church, I think of all the different doorways: when I’m meeting colleagues at Promise Neighborhood, I use one 🚪 door, to attend a 🎶 concert, another. First Presbyterian Church is a community of open doors 🚪- there’s a way in for everyone. 🥰 💫Visit - www.friendsoffpc.org to help us keep shining with the Friends of First Presbyterian 1000 stars Campaign to celebrate community and our support our renovations 💫
✨STARS✨ Ross Paterson Music 🎼. “I’m a professional pianist. When we moved to Hudson last spring, we moved without my 🎹 Piano ( long story) Reverend Kathryn Beilke and First Presbyterian Church generously offered their beautiful sanctuary ⛪️ as a home for me to work - day 🌅 or night 🌠. I will always be grateful” 🎶🙏🏼🎶 💫Visit - www.friendsoffpc.org to help us keep shining with the Friends of First Presbyterian 1000 stars Campaign to celebrate community and our support our renovations 💫
✨STARS✨ - “ I am so grateful for the beacon that is Hudson First Presbyterian Church. I felt engaged from my first instance encountering “the prayer 🙏🏼 box” on Warren Street, which appeals as an object of interest to passers by. Overtime, I came to connect to the church as a space for performing my yoga 🧘🏼♀️🧘🏽♂️🧘🏻♂️ and music 🎶. I have also had the opportunity to program some wonderful public concerts in the beautiful sanctuary space ⛪️. First Presbyterian is a community that has deep roots in the city of Hudson that practices inclusion and generosity. I am proud to consider myself a part of” - ✨O Zotique ✨( they/them/theirs) - www.zotique.org 💫Visit - www.friendsoffpc.org to help us keep shining with the Friends of First Presbyterian 1000 stars Campaign to celebrate community and our support our renovations 💫
✨OUR STARS✨ This past fall, with help from the Hudson Tourist Board, I set about mounting a concert for children and families titled, The Princess and the Golden Yam. I engaged the services of professional artists and, at long last, we were on our way- or so I thought! The next step proved the most difficult, which was finding a venue for two days of performances. Each venue I contacted sent me to another. ( I know that dance too well) Until finally, I met with Martika Woodward VanNess, the sprinkling jewel in the crown that is The First Presbyterian Church of Hudson, and there I found a home. I became a pest, imagining and reimagining, measuring, and fussing. The thing is- I never felt like a pest. Each time I timidly knocked, I was welcomed with open arms and Martika’s heartwarming smile. Eventually, I met Reverend Beilke, who cemented the plan. This is truly a place where all people are welcomed to worship, to be nurtured, to grow and to rejoice. As Hudson changes and exclusivity becomes pervasive, it is so critically important to maintain a place that welcomes everyone; newcomers and old-timers, the connected and the powerless. The First Presbyterian Church is that place. We must all come to the fore to make certain it survives and thrives as a beacon of love and hope for all. ✨CynthiaStevens✨ www.sacredproductions.com

Check out our “1,000 ⭐️’s” Fundraising campaign launched at First Presbyterian Church ⛪️ “ article on - “A blue tarp has been placed over the roof of the First Presbyterian Church here at Warren and Fourth streets as the first step in a much needed project to preserve the 184 year old house of worship and community center. The church’s 100-plus year old standing seam roof is leaking in several spots and this temporary tarp solution must last until the summer when the roof is scheduled to be replaced. To raise the balance of funds required for the work, The Friends of the First Presbyterian Church have launched a “1,000 Stars” community fundraising campaign to pay for the new roof and ancillary restoration work. “ This is a crucial step in the preservation of a treasured architectural landmark and gathering place for worshipers and community organizations” said Pam Kline, President of the Friends of First Presbyterian Church, a secular organization formed by members of the community a quarter of a century ago to raise funds for the buildings preservation. “It is a daunting and expensive project, given First Presbyterian’s soaring East steeple and overall size.” This far this year, The Friends have raised one third of the $250,000.00 required for the project, including a $22,000.00 matching grant from the NY Landmarks Conservancy’s Sacred Sites program. The “1,000 Stars” fundraising campaign is targeted to raise $100,000.00 The campaign’s name refers to the goal of getting 1000 donations of at least $100.00” To contribute to the project and overall restoration of the church, visit www.friendsoffpc.org/1000stars ( link in bio)
✨We are interconnected ✨ First Presbyterian Hudson is so much more than a church ⛪️ It is a place that reminds us "we are not alone" in a world, that creation, community and the cosmos all intersect in a web of interconnections. Our Building is a place of common ground amidst a city of diverse populations that so rarely interact with one another; a place that is approachable and open to all who live, travel and play here, fostering connections to each other and beyond. ✨When you make a contribution to our preservation and restoration efforts, you join the company of countless others who have shaped the past and future of this significant building. Frederick Church, famed Hudson River School Painter and Architect of Olana, was a contributor to the design of First Presbyterian in Hudson. Martin Van Buren, 8TH president of the United States, rented a pew at the church and his family was among prominent members who frequently attended FPC. Louis Comfort Tiffany produced one of his most unique mosaics, a depiction of an open armed Christ, as a centerpiece for the church's sanctuary. We all have a responsibility to steward their legacy in this city we love. Please consider being a ⭐amongst a constellation of supporters who share a common passion to preserve the legacy of the past among us. It’s been 365 days filled with fear of COVID, joy at the distances we have covered together, and appreciation of everyone who helps to feed those in need. Recovery Kitchen started with serving 200 free meals and now feeds up to 1,000 people each week. Please donate today in honor of our 1st birthday so that we can continue to help our neighbors in need or join us as a volunteer.
