Here are just a few ways you can prepare your child for Kindergarten over the summer!

“We will miss you” is such an understatement! Today, we celebrated the retirement of Ms. Tara Shelby who has dedicated 38 years of her life to serving students.

Dr. Shelly Simmons also returned to be honored on her retirement. Dr. Simmons previously served as the first principal of River Oaks.

We congratulate you both and thank you for all you have done in the lives of our students!

Car riders will begin dismissing at 11:30. Bus riders will begin dismissing after that.

No AlphaBest tomorrow.
Boys and Girls Club bus will run.

If your child is picked up by an outside provider (Tiny Steps, Little Tots) please make sure they are running tomorrow.

Today, former ROE students came back to walk the halls before their high school graduation. We are so proud of all of your accomplishments! Congratulations! Videos posted separately and in the comments.

Reminder! We will be at HCE tonight to meet any kindergarteners who could not attend the meeting at ROE last month!

HAPPENING TONIGHT: The Kindergarten Kickoff event at Harrison Central Elementary starts at 5:30 p.m. We hope to see you there!

We are so proud of our 4th and 5th grade students for having perfect attendance during testing this week! This is the second time for 4th grade. They also had perfect attendance last week. Way to go!

Happy School Principal Appreciation Day to our amazing principal, Mrs. Jerri Turan! Thank you for everything you do for the students and staff at River Oaks Elementary School! We appreciate your dedication and leadership!

Please take note of our testing schedule for MAAP and Kindergarten Readiness. 3rd-6th grades will test multiple times during the window. Students do best testing with their teacher and class. Please make every effort to be here on time on your testing days.

If you missed ROE's Kindergarten meeting, there are several district meetings coming up. Next, is at West Wortham on April 30th. The next closest location for ROE students will be at Harrison Central Elementary on May 7th!

Attention 6th Grade Parents:

Last week (Spring Break) was Assistant Principal’s Week. Today, we celebrated Mr. Scott! His dedication to River Oaks and our students is unmatched! Thank you for all that you do! We appreciate you!

Today Kona Ice helped us kick off the beginning of state testing. Students enjoyed the beautiful weather and a sweet treat!

❗️Attention HCSD Families❗️

Due to the severe weather conditions forecasted for our area, all schools in the Harrison County School District will be closed on Wednesday, April 10.

This decision was made following consultation with Harrison County Emergency Management officials. As always, the safety of our students, faculty, and staff remains our top priority. HCSD schools are scheduled to reopen on Thursday, April 11.

Please stay safe and stay tuned to our official communication channels (District and school websites, District and school social media, and ParentSquare) and local news outlets for any further updates.

Kona Ice is coming to help us celebrate the beginning of state testing! Money will be collected AFTER Spring Break from April 8-12. Students may purchase a snow cone after lunch on April 12.

Last week parents were invited to learn more about the state MAAP test. They got first hand experience answering scavenger hunt questions about the practice test. Our students may have helped them just a little!

ROE is so LUCKY to have these drivers! On Friday we celebrated our dedicated bus drivers. Thank you for getting our students to school safely each day!

Two nights remaining! Come join us from 4:30-5:30 (activities are at your own pace) this afternoon or Thursday!

READ ACROSS AMERICA WEEK: Today was "Colorful Friday" and each grade level wore a different color. Kindergarten wore orange, 1st grade wore blue, 2nd grade wore red, 3rd grade wore green, 4th grade wore yellow, 5th grade wore pink, and 6th grade wore purple!

Yesterday was Career Day (Oh the Places You'll Go). Look at these future professionals!

This week Harrison County is celebrating school social workers. Our students made a special sign for Ms. Gail Esters. Ms. Esters does so much for our students at River Oaks! We appreciate you! 💖💖💖
