NEW ARRIVAL at WildeHouse Books — JUNE 1914, TARZAN OF THE APES by Edgar Rice Burroughs. An early reprint from A. L. Also, I've been hard-at-work transitioning the retail aspect to a new online extension called The Vintage Type. I'm still working on the final details and new branding concept. Will share more of my process in the coming week!⁠⠀

Lately, being away from the shop has left me feeling detached from all the amazing people I had the chance to meet—I don't want to lose that personal connection to my followers. Stepping away from the brick + mortar also provided me the freedom to follow other pursuits, like branding and digital illustration. ⋒ Last week, I took a much-needed break to reflect, but mostly to let go. Yesterday, my husband and I finished cleaning the shop, making repairs, and painting. To me, it was more erasing than cleaning—covering the illustrations of Hemingway and Poe, illustrations that took me a week to finish, with a simple swipe of a beige-colored brush. Now, the shop's a memory, and in a month, most of you will probably forget The BookShop was even there at all. But I'll always remember that I tried, and that's what matters. And that's OK because it's the proper nature of things. I'm in a place now where I'm very excited to move forward, expanding the brand I've worked so hard to lay a foundation for.⁠⠀

This week, I'll be making the full transition to The Vintage Type, our new online vintage boutique. I'll be working very hard to curate a great selection of rare books, as well as vintage and artisan-made gems—a perfect salute to the brick-and-mortar shop I will always miss. ⁠⠀
