Last week, a few Pyramid team members traveled to the Blackfeet Nation to meet with key leaders and elders, focusing on the significance of the Blackfeet Water Compact and Settlement Act.
During the visit, our team gathered essential information, interviews, and footage that will guide our efforts over the next year.
In April 2017, the Blackfeet people secured the right to manage their water resources. With access to more than $470 million in federal funds, the Blackfeet Nation has started investing in vital water infrastructure that will benefit the entire community.
In recent years, Pyramid has built many valuable relationships within the Blackfeet Nation. We are proud to support the Blackfeet leadership in 2024 and beyond!

U.S. Indian boarding schools have impacted generations of Native people across America. We're hopeful that the true history of these boarding schools is revealed and that the healing work of the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition is elevated as they work every day towards truth and healing for Native survivors and their families.
They took the children: U.S. created Indian boarding schools to destroy cultures and seize land For 150 years, U.S. policy forced Native American children into boarding schools built to eradicate their culture and assimilate them into White society.
In March, after years of Tribal-led advocacy and navigating a tumultuous political climate, the draft resource management plan (RMP) for the Bears Ears National Monument was released. This draft RMP is unprecedented– it’s the first time a commission of Tribes has collaborated in preparing a resource management plan for a national monument. Alternative E, the preferred alternative, incorporates Traditional Indigenous Knowledge, and balances public access and use of the Monument with protecting its cultural and natural resource.
Join us in supporting a new standard for Tribal-led and sustainable management of public lands. Submit an official public comment today and share this opportunity to take action with your networks.

Last Friday, our Indian Country team participated in our annual Leadership Retreat that took place on Snoqualmie Tribe's ancestral lands at Snoqualmie Falls and the Salish Lodge. We were honored to be joined by WCA CEO Alyssa Macy (Citizen of Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs of Wasco, Navajo, and Hopi descent). The day was filled with hiking, laughter, and space to reflect on culture, stories, personal growth, and identity.
Having space to share wisdom, connect with the land, bond with the team, learn from our leaders and share the stories of our ancestors has recharged our minds and bodies as we step into 2024.
Thankful for the time to share meaningful connections and evolve and grow together as a team. Sharing our heritage helps us not only know each other, but ourselves. When we learn our roots, we become whole.
Pyramid is grateful to have been a part of the Trust-Based Philanthropy in Community Funder Briefing in partnership with the Renton Regional Community Foundation , BECU , and Philanthropy Northwest ! It was a powerful and inspiring day connecting funders and South King County community leaders in person, and putting in action.
Biketober may be over, but it's not quite time to put up your wheels yet! 🚲 We're big fans of cycling at Pyramid, and a few of our team members even ride to work when they can! It's a great way to sneak in extra exercise, enjoy the sights of the city (especially if your route takes you along the Seattle waterfront), and is a greener transportation option than driving. 💚
We asked our bike commuting teammates their #1 tip for riding your bike to work:
Josh: Double-check that your travel coffee mug (and any food containers) are sealed tightly before taking off!
Marisa: If you're going to put your bike on a bus, look up a video on how to do it! It can be super confusing the first time.
Lizzie: Don't forget gloves for the colder months, and always wear layers that are easy to remove.
Izzy: When commuting downtown via the beautiful Elliott Bay waterfront trail, there is the inevitable mega-hill once you get downtown. My tip would be to take Bell Street for the best chance at not having to hike your bike! Or, ignore that and make your way to the market for an early morning pastry from Le Panier.
Thousands of Seattlites voted in the City Council elections this November! For many voters, this meant voting in a new City Council district for the first time, since the lines of Seattle’s districts were redrawn in 2022.
Pyramid supported the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods in a campaign announcing the new districts and helping all residents get connected to their City Councilmember. We even spotted a few familiar Pyramid faces on the posters around town 👀
