1000 Yard 5" Target Success
Brent B. sent us a video of his 300 Win Mag Match build using a Criterion barrel and Savage Arms action, both from NSS.
Here are a few of the components Brent used:
- 28” Criterion Barrels Inc- 300 Win Mag Match- bull barrel contour- 10 twist with ¾”-24 muzzle thread
- Savage Arms model 110 receiver
- NSS precision ground recoil lug
- NSS squared and trued barrel nut
- APA Gen 3 Fat Bastard muzzle brake
Here is what Brent had to say:
"Wind is at 20-25kts. The steel target on the right at 1,000 is small, 5” or so. It was my second consecutive hit on it. You can see the wind quartering by how much the spotting scope is shaking. I am running the Berger 200gr. Hybrid bullets and VV N165 powder with Nosler Premium brass, and CCI BR primers."
Customers First Time Shooting at 1,000 Yards
Yesterday we shared some info from our customer Brent regarding his build using a Shilen Rifles, Inc. 22-250 barrel purchased from Northland Shooters Supply (NSS). Here's a video of his son Rodney shooting for the first time at 1,000 yards using that rifle.
Here is what Brent had to say:
"This video is Rodney’s first shot ever at 1,000 yds. He is shooting my Savage Precision short action in 22/250 with a 28” Shilen Select Match barrel I recently purchased from NSS. I used your Go, No-Go gauges, lug, nut, action wrench, and so on. The stock is a Choate Ultimate Sniper, designed by Maj John Plaster, (ret.) years ago.
The rifle only had a few rounds down the tube at 380 yds, so last Wednesday I sent spotters at 300, 600, and 800 to check my d.o.p.e. out to 1,000. You can see on the target display screen a spotter, then a 3-shot group at 1,000.
I asked Rodney to give it a try before we let the barrel cool. I think he grazed the X-Ring, but it scored a 10-Ring. We were running Berger 80gr Hybrid Target bullets with H4350 powder.
Not bad for his first shot. He is the oldest son. I took him to Deep Zero Shooting Park, Spencer, TN for his 50th birthday.
The Shilen and Criterion barrels are sweet!"
