Saiful Bouquet, in collaboration with Gensler, celebrated the recent Topping Off of the Friendship Foundation’s new campus in Redondo Beach. This cutting-edge, 62,000-square-foot facility prioritizes inclusivity, providing a safe and welcoming environment with various educational and therapeutic programs for special needs students of all ages and their families. To support the innovative architectural design, Saiful Bouquet explored different structural systems, including a steel construction scheme with braced frames and a concrete flat plate scheme with concrete shear walls. Steel construction was selected to accommodate the unique design featuring a spirally sloped roof and long cantilever overhangs, all under the jurisdiction of the California Division of State Architect (DSA). With expected completion in Fall 2025, this project is set to transform lives and support the community.

Saiful Bouquet is excited to contribute to the groundbreaking of the Lulu's Place project. The youth center offers programs in academics, athletics, and wellness. Named in honor of Carol “Lulu” Kimmelman, it is designed to compete with the best facilities worldwide. This development features prominent buildings like the Welcome Center, Fitness Zone, and Learning Lab meticulously designed to meet the highest architectural standards. This athletic complex will enrich the lives of our youth in the greater LA area through shared experiences in sports, education, and wellness. Collaborating with numerous unified partners – including RIOS and DPR Construction - we are committed to creating an inclusive, top-tier facility that will serve as a vibrant community hub for generations to come.

Saiful Bouquet had the opportunity to witness the steel topping of the 135,000 sf Robert Day Sciences Center at Claremont McKenna College. Designed by the visionary architects at BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group, this 'hashtag-shaped' building is set to be exceptional, reflecting the college's dedication to innovation. Featuring floor-to-ceiling glass facades and indoor terraces, the building's design fosters dynamic interactions across disciplines and the campus while providing a visually stunning and functional space filled with natural light.

Faced with the exciting challenge of limited vertical overlap between floors, long-span floors (up to 52' clear), stringent vibration criteria to meet (2,000 mips), and the need to have a robust seismic design given its proximity to some of the most active seismic faults, our team developed a creative structural solution consisting of a hybrid scheme involving steel construction and concrete shear walls for seismic bracing. A comprehensive deformation compatibility analysis was also performed to ensure the proper design of the steel trusses.

Collaborating with BIG on this unique project has been a truly wonderful experience for our team. Congratulations to the College, Herrick, KPRS and all of our other collaborators on achieving this major milestone! We eagerly anticipate the completion of the science center, expected in 2025.

Our team recently celebrated a significant milestone in the construction of the new Keck Medicine of USC Office Building with a structural steel topping-out ceremony. This cutting-edge facility, a collaboration between Saiful Bouquet Structural Engineers, SmithGroup, and Turner Construction Company, is designed to meet modern medical needs while prioritizing sustainable design. Located on a critical corner in the heart of the medical and research district near Huntington Hospital, this four-level, 110,000 GSF building with three subterranean parking levels employs steel construction with lightweight concrete fill over a metal deck supported by steel beams and columns. Perimeter moment frames use proprietary SidePlate connections to ensure structural resilience while providing robust seismic bracing for the structure. Its unique precast concrete façade, landscaped Plaza level, and strategic orientation not only provide a welcoming entry experience with ample shade for patients but also enhance visibility and traffic safety at the busy intersection for the Pasadena community.

The University of Southern California Keck Medical Office Building, Pasadena, is scheduled for completion in 2025 and aims for LEED Platinum certification.

MiraCosta College in Oceanside, California, recently celebrated the grand opening of their $68 million Health and Wellness Academic Hub. The 74,336 SF complex is a great example of the design-build approach where collaboration, in this case, between HMC Architects, Balfour Beatty, Saiful Bouquet Structural Engineers, P2S Inc, and Schmidt Design Group results in a hugely successful project delivery for the owner.

Construction has kicked off for the highly anticipated $5 billion One Beverly Hills development project! Saiful Bouquet Structural Engineers joined our project partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of this transformative 17.5-acre mixed-use complex, poised to redefine luxury living in California.

The project is being developed by CAIN International and designed by Foster + Partners and landscape architect RIOS, with Kerry Hill Architects (KHA) designing the Aman Hotel and residences and Adamson serving as the executive architect for the entire project. The project harmoniously combines a private side, including the ultra-luxurious Aman branded residential and hotel towers, with a public side consisting of a 38,000 square feet conference center, retail, and 4.5 acres of public accessible botanical garden.

At the project's core are the two ultra-luxurious Aman-branded residential towers, featuring a combined 197 condominiums, each equipped with balconies with plunge pools. The towers, with rooftop pools and gardens, ascend to 31 and 28 stories, respectively, positioning the towers to be the tallest structures in Beverly Hills. A third smaller tower will house a 78-key all-suite Aman hotel. The private side of the development will also have a 100,000 square foot space with extensive wellness facilities for the first fully self-contained Aman Club.

Saiful Bouquet is proud and honored to be the Structural Engineer for this exciting project. Leveraging our expertise in State-of-the-Art Performance Based Seismic Engineering, our team utilized advanced nonlinear earthquake time-history structural analysis for the seismic design of the three towers to ensure the seismic resilience of the buildings and to design a robust, efficient, and cost-effective structural system.

The iconic Beverly Hilton will also undergo restoration and substantial upgrades with designs carefully crafted to honor its history. This grand-scale project promises to leave a legacy on the Beverly Hills skyline, and our team is immensely proud to contribute to its realization.

The development is expected to be completed by early 2028 and will be one of the largest and most environmentally advanced private real estate developments in the United States.

Saiful Bouquet Structural Engineers is proud to share that the Interactive Learning Pavilion was voted US Building of the Year! Our team feels privileged to have collaborated with LMN Architects on this exceptional project which plays a crucial role in promoting experiential learning and research for UC Santa Barbara.

The classroom building is a 4-story, 95,250 GSF structure comprised of two volumes separated by an open-air passageway that fosters casual interactions between students and faculty. This central circulation corridor between volumes is defined by curved walls and terraces that correspond with the shape of the lecture halls inside, reflecting the seaside cliffs of the UC Santa Barbara campus.

Saiful Bouquet’s strategic design not only maximizes ceiling height in lecture halls but also enables flexible placement of ducts and utilities, optimizing space efficiency. Long-span steel trusses, seamlessly integrated with classroom walls above the third floor, span over 110’ directly above lecture halls. Prioritizing seismic safety, our steel-framed structure incorporates robust Buckling Restrained Braced Frames as seismic system, ensuring a safe and resilient environment for the 2000 students it serves.

LMN's Interactive Learning Pavilion Wins US Building of the Year - The ILP at UC Santa Barbara The Interactive Learning Pavilion at the University of California, Santa Barbara received the most votes in our poll for US Building of the Year 2023....

Partnering with Gensler, Saiful Bouquet led the comprehensive structural design services for the $250M AC + Moxy Hotels tower. The new 608,000 sf, mixed-use development anchored by a 7-story podium, hosts a total of 727 guest rooms, provides space for 370 parking stalls and features over 8,000 sf of ground floor retail space. Located in Downtown Los Angeles, directly opposite the Los Angeles Convention Center and the Cryp-to .com Arena, this project marks the first AC + Moxy location in the City of Los Angeles.

The tower’s concrete construction employs core walls for seismic bracing and post-tensioned slabs for typical tower floors. The seismic structural design employed state-of-the-art performance based seismic design approach, which involved performing advanced nonlinear earthquake time-history analysis and independent peer review.

Embodying urban vitality, the project was recently recognized at the 2023 Los Angeles Business Council Architectural Awards in the Hospitality category.

We're thrilled to share the recent achievements of the Cuyamaca College Student Services & Administration Building that Saiful Bouquet served as structural engineer of record. The building, that function as the gateway to the campus and provides student services for the campus, was recognized by both the Community College Facility Coalition ( ) with the Award of Excellence, and the The , San Diego Chapter Award for outstanding work in the Public Works category.

Saiful Bouquet is proud to have been a design partner with HMC Architects (HMC Architects) for the three-story, 40,000 sf, steel framed building. The structure is uniquely carved into the hillside and boasts an open roof deck with amazing views of the surrounding community.

One Beverly Hills | Saiful Bouquet Structural Engineers Saiful Bouquet is the Structural Engineer for One Beverly Hills featuring two residential condominium towers and a 42 all-suite luxury hotel and residences.

The Terminal 1 expansion at San Diego International Airport is well underway, celebrating steel topping off earlier this month, and we're proud to be part of the project! Acting as Associate Structural Engineer under Magnusson Klemencic Associates, Saiful Bouquet designed the foundation systems for the new Terminal 1, seismic design for the sequential demolition of the existing Terminal 1 structure, and structural engineering for the relocation and seismic strengthening of a historic United hangar terminal building.

Our team thrives on collaborating on challenging terminal projects like this. We applied unique structural design solutions for the structure that entailed suspending the below-grade service tunnels from concrete grade beams supported by Auger Cast Piles (ACP) to facilitate construction over highly liquefiable soil conditions below the water table. Phase 1 of the expansion is set to open by 2025. This project represents a new "gateway to the region," and we are excited to witness the realization of this vision.

The Saiful Bouquet team served up some fun during our inaugural ping pong tournament playoffs last week! We had a great turnout of nearly 50 participants who came together over the past two months to enjoy team-building and friendly competition on our 37th-floor patio overlooking DTLA.

Tournament contenders took a break from analyzing structural systems to go head-to-head in an epic showdown, resulting in big cheers, cash prizes, and a pizza party! Congrats to the winners and all who participated in engineering fun, camaraderie, and creating a new Saiful Bouquet tradition to enjoy for years to come!
