Anything can happen when multi-instrumentalist / composer / producer / filmmaker Stephen Dijoseph enters a studio. Whether it’s the percussive grooves of his solo guitar and vocals, the backing drives of a firey rhythm section, the quirk and funk of his trademark solo “Pianopoetry”, or the ease and flow of his ambient productions and collaborations. Dijoseph the recording artist is a man of many s

For those who have been asking about my writing process, I'm always getting ideas for music. Always... as in everyday for the last 55 years. If I were actually organized, I'd be be dangerous. So in that spirit, I like ragtime rhythms and started exploring what will become some demented form of the style. At least harmonically. I often "play out" or let the concept "fly" even if not well executed. That gets the idea physically "going". THEN comes the detail work.

It looks like this song is going to be my "winning number". It's called 'Ophelia'. What do YOU think?
Did this as a tribute to Linkin Parks' back when he passed. 'Somewhere I Belong'. I saw him perform, sitting in with another band in LA. It wasn't long after that he passed. Great performer and way too young to be gone.
Greatness is effort with passion. It rarely falls “out of the sky”.
Widely considered the greatest dancer in the history of film, Fred Astaire could make any routine seem effortless. But, in reality, he was a relentless worker. The star would notoriously film any dance sequence repeatedly until it was perfect. Often, this meant 30 to 40 takes.
And his work ethic translated onto the screen. It’s a major reason his stage and film career spanned a remarkable 76 years. Although he was great with a partner, his best work usually came when he was allowed to improvise.
Got this note from A group of kids I played a concert for at a school. It’s always nice to appreciate and be appreciated!

Here’s a pic of my kitty cat who I had for 19 years. I was introduced to “puttee” at a restaurant where I used to play. He was a stray living outside and being fed flounder, crab and all manor of delicious food by the folks who worked there. One night while on break, he looked at me and tilted his head and meowed. I knew immediately he was coming home with me. He was 2 at the time ( so said the vet). He lived for a total of 19 years. The last 2 years of his fabulous life he spent in the care of the young lady pictured above and her mom ( bless their souls… and he did). He was the “boss man” to other felines but to humans he was pure love. He used to "pull up" next to my head in bed. Sounded like a mini car motor...purring away. This pic is 28 now. The young lady has kids (and probably kitties) of her own. I love this picture. Thanks Barb -
