URGENT! Friends and followers, we are desperate. We need to raise $5000 quickly - not later than the end of August! We've been posting for donations and have received a few, but nowhere NEAR what we need! This is now WAY beyond URGENT! Whether you can donate $5 or $25 or $50 or more, please know that every single dollar donated will make a difference!

With 10 dogs still in the rescue we must be able to cover costs and see a viable path forward for the rescue, or we will need to place our remaining dogs with other rescues and shut our doors. After over 10 years of helping many hundreds of dogs find new homes,-providing major medical care or training to so many dogs who needed it, giving dogs a second (or third) chance when most rescues would pass them by ... that would be a horrible decision to have to make.

Connecticut, along with the rest of the country, is dealing with a major crisis in the rescue world. We want so badly to be able to help. We absolutely cannot do that until and unless we can provide care for our current dogs, replenish our emergency fund, and begin to pay down a veritable mountain of debt.

We are a small, independent non-profit organization. We have no corporate backing. None of us are paid - we are all volunteers. Without your donations we have no choice but to close our doors. Please donate the amount of that morning trip through the drive-through - if even half of our 76,000+ followers did that, we would be able to cover all costs and begin anew!

Right now:
Matthew and Locke needed annual exams, vaccines and tests. Because they are both still in a boarding environment our vet paid a house call. The final bill, including a generous rescue discount, was $478.88

Four other dogs need annual exams, vaccines, and tests. We need to schedule these appointments NOW. Estimated cost is $450/dog.
In addition:

Kona is still in boarding until she finds a foster or adopter - cost is $245/week.

We have a dog who just moved to a sanctuary placement. Sanctuary placements are not free. But she needed a safe place to live her life receiving great care and enjoying being with people who love her. NOW we need to raise funds to reimburse the wonderful organization that funded her move.

Additionally, and 1000% urgent! - we have THREE DOGS that need to move to a safe, sanctuary environment WITHIN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS! This is not going to be free either! Once again, HEAL Foundation is offering to help - but we need to do our part, too!!!

Please give as generously as you can! We absolutely cannot chart a path forward without your help. We cannot fail our dogs! They need us and we need you!

Courtesy post - this dog is not in our rescue.Moe is part of our direct rehoming program.
RESCUES: If you can help please private message our page or call 203-910-5693.
POTENTIAL ADOPTERS: We will be screening applications. Please fill one out at https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application
Once we screen the application we'll pass it on to Moe's current owner. Any adoption will be direct from his current owner to the new owner. FFFR will work with the family to facilitate any necessary basic veterinary care (vaccines, neuter, etc.)

NOW ... meet Moe!

He is a c**n hound mix, about 10 years old. He was adopted from a "rescue" in CT that will not take him back. That's the subject of a whole other discussion and not the purpose of this post - let's just help Moe find a new home! His family loves him but, due to some major bumps in the road of life, cannot financially continue to care for him.

Moe is a great dog! He loves people, is fine living with children, and is happy to live with other dogs. He should not, however, live with cats.

This good boy knows his basics. He is house trained, crate trained (although there have been a couple of times recently when he's gotten loose from being crated), and walks fairly well on a leash. He is not current with vaccines and FFFR will work with the owners to make sure he is brought up to date with them. He is already neutered.

Moe would love a fenced yard but it's not a requirement. Preference will be given to families with experience with the breed or other hunting breeds.

Lt's find Moe a home quickly where he can relax and enjoy his senior years!

Hank is part of our new policy of doing courtesy posts on the page for dogs in shelters and pounds, as well as for our new direct rehoming program.
RESCUES: If you can help with Hank please private message our page or call 203-910-5693 and we'll give you direct contact information.
POTENTIAL ADOPTERS: We will be prescreening applications, so please fill one out at our website - https://ww.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application

Hank was recently adopted from a shelter in Long Island. A meet and greet with their dog and Hank in the home went well, but on home territory their dog was not a fan of having another dog in the home. A trainer went and evaluated the situation, and Hank is going to need to move asap. The family's dog is determined to be the one and only in their lives and their home.

Let's help Hank! He is a great dog and is longing to find a true forever family.

He had previously been adopted and lived with a family happily for months. He was returned to the shelter because he was scared of the man in the home, who tended to be rough with him. In that home he lived happily with children, and can go to a home with children 10 years old and up (he's never been around little ones). He also is dog friendly (when the dog in the home is willing to welcome him!) and could happily live with another dog of similar size, with proper introductions.

Hank is a dog who will be a wonderful family member in a home where everyone (including any animals in the home) are welcoming.

Kona is DESPERATE to find a home - either foster or forever. She came back to us last year after many years of having been adopted - and she's been in boarding ever since. She doesn't deserve that! She needs to be a well-loved family member! To foster or adopt please fill out an application: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/foster-application or https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application
To donate towards the cost of her boarding until she finds that family (the cost is $245/week) please use one of the following links:

Kona is a happy, playful, energetic girl even at about 8 years old! She loves going on walks and a fenced yard where she can run around would be ideal.

She needs to be an only pet. She doesn't do well with other dogs and shouldn't be with cats or other small animals.

She would like a home with an adult family, or one with older, teenaged children.

Kona loves to be loved. She'd enjoy keeping you company if you're retired or work from home. She's happiest when she's with her people.

Please someone step up for our gorgeous girl Kona! She's been waiting to find a new family for way too long!

UPDATE! HAS RESCUE PLACEMENT!

Ben is part of our new policy of doing courtesy posts on the page for dogs in shelters and pounds, as well as for our new direct rehoming program.
RESCUES: If you can help with Ben please private message our page or call 203-910-5693 and we'll give you direct contact information.
POTENTIAL ADOPTERS: We will be prescreening applications, so please fill one out at our website - https://ww.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application

Currently Ben resides at a municipal shelter on Long Island. He is a cane corso mix, about 2-3 years old, and came from a backyard breeder who was seen abusing him.

Ben is a lover! He adores people! AND he's been failed over and over again. He was adopted, only to be returned because his adopter was keeping him in a playpen and he urinated in it. He was adopted out AGAIN, but his size and energy level was too much for the small children in the home. He shows absolutely ZERO aggression. He's just an energetic young dog who currently is mega-stressed in the kennel. *Ben NEEDS a family!*

He will do best in a home with people who have experience with the breed. He'll need plenty of time to decompress, and, at least for now, he needs to be an only pet.

Do you like taking long walks, even hikes? Ben would LOVE to keep you company on them!

Are you a home with adults, or one with older, teenaged children?

Do you have experience with bully breed dogs, and are you able to provide him with consistency as well as lots of love? You may just be a wonderful family for Ben!

Friends and followers, please share Ben, put in an application if you think you and your family would be a good match for him, and spread the word about him to your friends.

Let's get Ben out of the shelter and into a home!

Rosey was out and about with her foster mom today. As long as she's with people she loves, Rosey is happy to go and explore new places, and relax with the people she calls family :)

Now about 11 years old, she's had more than her share of medical challenges and changes in her life since 2014 when we first met her, when we gave her a freedom ride out of Bridgeport Animal Control. She was adopted and returned when her family got a divorce, and has had multiple surgeries since she's been back with us. Through it all, Rosey has been a strong soul!

Rosey's foster family adores her and she has found her place in their heart and home. She will be a "forever foster" and will remain with them for the rest of her life. Rosey's journey may have had twists and turns, but she finally is secure with a family that will never, ever let her down

Creed was posted on our page as part of our direct rehoming program and PRR generously agreed to take him into their rescue! What a lucky pup! Please donate to help them cover the costs of his medical care - which is expensive and mounting quickly!

❣️CREED is still on the mend as he had his follow up appointment today. We still haven’t covered his first/intake appointment that left us with a $530 bill and another $149 for today.
💊CREED was sent home with more medications today and we hope he will be able to be neutered soon - his neuter estimates range from $700-$900 for his weight.
🩺We really didn’t expect to take on another dog, nevermind such a medical case. We have raised $210 for previous vet expenses and we do have a $300 grant to go towards his neuter. We are strapped. But we will not let Creed down. Creed has been doing wonderfully in his foster home and will soon be ready for adoption. He does well with other dogs and even cats and is also a big cuddle bug who doesn’t realize his size at 125 lbs! Creed’s adoptive home should be homeowners and have the stamina to keep Creed active and happy and not mind their legs being crushed when he wants to cuddle 🫶🏼
🙏🏼 Please, if you’re able to donate, please do. We need all of the help we can to help Creed!

We reached out to Penny's mom when we saw her posted on a free pet's site and offered to help with safe placement for her, as part of our new direct rehoming program.
*RESCUES: If you can help please private message us or call 203-910-5693
*POTENTIAL ADOPTERS: FFFR will be screening applications - please fill one out at https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application
Any adoption will be direct between families.

NOW - MEET PENNY!

This adorable girl is a puppy, only about 10 months old. As is often the case with puppies, she doesn't know her own size or her own strength. She is too rough with the family's 20-lb pug and too much dog for their 5-year-old child. They adore her but have made the hard decision (we believe the correct one) to find her a new home.

Penny would be fine with a dog her own size. She should live with older children (10+) and is way too interested in cats for that to be a good match.

She is house trained, crate trained, spayed, up to date with vaccines, and knows some of her basic commands.

She'll do best with an active family (she has tons of puppy energy) and a family with experience with the breed (she's a pit bull type dog).

As with any puppy, the family will need to be prepared to continue her training and socialization so that she grows up to be a happy, well-balanced adult dog.

This is a really hard decision for the family. Let's find Penny a home quickly!

This is an URGENT $10 Tuesday Plea from FFFR's President. Help PLEASE! Donations have virtually dried up and we are literally broke! We need to raise $2700 NOW and another $3000 within the month. Please donate!

For over 2-1/2 years we have struggled after hitting some extremely major financial challenges. Our first and most important need and goal is always to provide our dogs with the care they need. Each month it is a struggle to do that. We haven't been able to take in even one new dog in all of that time. Now we find ourselves at a crossroads.

UPDATE: Rehomed by the family

Courtesy post - this dog is not in our rescue.

As part of our new direct rehoming program, we told Bella's mom we'd help find a new home for her. She was posted on a free pets site, and we're happy to help find a new home for her safely. She needs to move due to medical issues of a family member.
*RESCUES: If you have a place for Bella, please private message us or call us at 203-910-5693
POTENTIAL ADOPTERS: FFFR will be screening applications - please fill one out: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application

It really shouldn't be hard for Bella to find a new home - she's a young, beautiful pure bred Australian Cattle Dog who is just fine with pretty much everyone - other dogs, children, and cats too!

Bella is:
About 2 years old
Good with dogs
Good with cats
Good with children
Up to date with vaccines
Active girl - would love a family with an active lifestyle
House trained
Crate trained
Walks fairly well on a leash
Knows basic commands

Bella loves to play, loves attention and affection. True to her breed, she's a very smart girl and needs to exercise her brain as well as her body.

A family with experience with her breed or other herding breeds would be ideal. A fenced-in yard would be Bella's idea of heaven!

She is not yet spayed and FFFR will work with the family to get that done.

Bella is ready to be your new family member!

Jaidyn went to a wonderful rescue/sanctuary organization just about a week ago. She's always been a dog who takes time to trust, but she has warmed right up to the people who run it! She's smiling a lot, and settling into a rhythm of life in their home. We're so grateful to them, and to HEAL-Humanity Empathy Animal Love - Foundation . HEAL facilitated her transfer and gave the receiving rescue a very generous grant! They had been involved in Jaidyn's life since she was about 5 and in danger of euthanasia at Brookhaven Shelter. Now Jaidyn is about 10, and likely to be a sanctuary dog and live out her years being loved beyond measure in her new home. FFFR is raising funds to benefit HEAL, so that they continue their mission to help dogs like Jaidyn! We have over 76,000 followers to our FFFR page.
76,000 x $5.00 = $380,000
With 1/2 that amount, we could cover the cost of care of the 10 dogs remaining in the rescue, replenish our emergency fund, pay off ALL of our debt, and start rescuing again!

Bishop has been waiting for a forever home for YEARS! This boy is literally living his life in the rescue - and although he's in a wonderful foster home and is loved a lot, he deserves a family to love him forever! To adopt please fill out an application at our website: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application

Bishop has come to like other dogs who aren't too in-your face. He should not live with cats - he's way too interested in them. He would prefer a home with adults who have experience with the breed. He loves his walks, but also loves to cuddle ... and just be with his people.

Please give this truly good boy a home!

Lyla is a lovely girl who's been with us for far too long - where in the world is her forever family??? If you'd like to be that family, please fill out an application at our website: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application

She's a pointer mix who's now about 4 years old and she came to us when she was still a puppy at less than a year old! She adores her foster family and they adore her, but she really needs to find a family of her very own.

That really shouldn't be hard. Lyla loves other dogs! She also loves people after a little bit of time to get to know them - she's initially a bit shy and bashful with people she doesn't know. She's best in a home with adults or teenaged children - small children scare her. And she's too interested in cats for her to be a good match for a home with them.

Lyla loves playing in the yard with other dogs, and enjoys a good game of tug with either her human or doggy friends. She's crate trained and knows her basics. She does need a fenced yard because she's never mastered the fine art of walking on a leash.
She came from a hoarding situation and that's one life skill that has eluded her.

Lyla is a doll and will make a terrific member of your family.
