I have a degree in Dietetics: Food and Nutrition, am a Certified Health Coach through ACE Fitness, and have been a personal trainer for 6 years. My goal is to empower you to health through healthy, natural, sustainable practices using diet, exercise, and an all around healthy lifestyle. Some of you know, I’ve recently started teaching Pilates at Black Orchid. That’s right! It used to only be hot yoga+spin, but they’ve added Pilates into the mix, and you need to check it out!

Hi there, I’m Grace. My favorite things are Pilates, learning and teaching about nutrition and health as a health coach, spending time with my husband and friends, hiking and walking my dog Bentley.

My love for Pilates blossomed out of doing my own research on how to strengthen my core in order to decrease back pain from my own scoliosis. From there, I went on to study nutrition in college and got my Bachelors in Dietetics.

As a health coach, Pilates instructor, personal trainer, and fitness nutrition specialist, I love continuing to learn about my craft. I believe that learning how to connect with our bodies through movement helps us to appreciate how amazing they are. I love finding ways to challenge and improve myself and those around me daily.

Each class I teach includes modifications for any skill set, so whether you’ve never tried Pilates, or you are a seasoned veteran, you will get a great workout!

🌱Life is beautiful🌱
🌷This last month has been filled with so many beautiful people and places. I don’t know about you, but spring has quickly reminded me why it is my favorite season🌸 Not only am I able to get outside more often to walk my dog, sit on my back porch, or smell the amazing flowers blooming everywhere, but I’ve been gardening, traveling, and soaking in the sun ☀️
🥒My passion for health never changes, but the directions it has taken me are shifting ⚙️I am absolutely 💗ing how I’ve been able to be a part of seeing people’s lives change by simply empowering 💪🏼them to take control of their health. It is so fulfilling to see faces light up 🤗when they feel and see results from small changes over time leading to bigger and more lasting results in the long term.
🤓Yeah, it might sound corny, but I get to help individuals completely change their lives through health coaching all over Billings, disrupting corporate wellness and leaving the old idea behind that BMI determines your health and happiness.
🤜🏼Or that you have to go on a diet to lose weight.
🤜🏼Or that your worth is determined by a number on a scale.
I still have this 🔥 inside of me to help women love their bodies through healthy lifestyle change and breaking the diet mentality. Because you are more than the numbers, the calories, and your best days 🙌🏼

📱🖥I haven’t been here in awhile... so let me tell you a few reasons why.
Today in my IG story I am talking about what I’ve been doing instead of getting caught up in how much I’m posting on social media. I am feeling refreshed, happy, and free! I will be keeping it that way.
✨These last couple of years have been a journey that have brought such good times, along with such tough times. I love being a health coach and believed the way I could reach more people was through the social media platform. While that is true, I have found more fulfillment doing a few other things, while also bringing my passion for health to life in new ways🤓🥑
Here’s what I mean:
1️⃣I’ve been working in the dirt- getting plants for my house and my garden. Every time I look at the greenery around my house I smile 🤗 the last year, my husband and I have been getting rid of the clutter around our home, but haven’t had the capacity to replace it with other things that give us joy— until now!🌿
2️⃣Working on relationships and meaningful connections- family, support systems, friends, and my marriage. 👫Not much feels more fulfilling right now than good relationships, conversation, and connection, and I am listening to that feeling.
3️⃣Working as a health coach for Healthy Is Wellness in Billings for company wellness programs. 🥗I get to do what I love with a group of like minded individuals who also want to help people find sustainable healthy lifestyles with a positive and encouraging approach to reaching their goals. 💪🏼I am so blessed to have been offered this job in January!
👌🏼So there you have it. Seasons change. Life changes. I am still doing what I love in a different space. And that could change again, but for now I am feeling like I am exactly where I need to be🙌🏼

🥖Trying new things is so much fun! Especially when it is baking bread that still looks pretty even though you thought you completely screwed it up 🤦🏼‍♀️
Sourdough is one of the original ways of making bread, fermenting the flour and water before baking, allowing the natural yeasts from the air to ferment the dough and eat almost 97% of the gluten in the flour. It’s crazy! I’ve loved learning more about bread, as my husband has developed a sensitivity to gluten- and gluten free bread SUCKS (pardon my language 😂).
So stay tuned to hear how this one turns out once it’s done ✅

☀️You guys, I am so excited it’s finally spring and I don’t have to dress like I live in the Arctic anymore!!☀️

I’m feeling the itch to get moving—
-I want to go on all the walks,
-Be outside everyday,
-Sit and soak up the sunshine,
-Go on runs,
-Be active in any way I possibly can.

🏃🏼‍♀️My body finally feels ready to MOVE again. The weather has a serious effect on our bodies, our motivation, and our lifestyles. 😞So if you’ve been feeling sluggish and unmotivated because of the cold weather, know you’re not alone! I’ve been feeling the winter blues this last month, and it has been effecting my energy to get a workout in, eat my usual amount of vegetables, and made it harder to say no to sweets and high carb choices 🥖🍠🍪🍫

🌱Spring is here though! You can get back into a good exercise and health routine ANY time! Listen to your body, soak in the sunshine, get a little extra vitamin D, drink a little more water, and enjoy the longer days🌞

🙌🏼The most amazing thing I am learning about growth- no matter what kind- is that there must be a time of brokenness or being uncomfortable, before the beauty of building strength occurs.

🏋🏼‍♀️When I workout, my muscles must be broken and torn first before they rebuild and grow in a time of rest and rejuvenation.

👫In my relationships, I am not growing unless I get at least a little uncomfortable or unsatisfied with where I am at, and invite those trusted people to push me to be my best.

🥗When I am feeding my body, I am giving it nutritional sustenance, but until I allow my body to rest and restore with at least 12 hours of fasting a day, it cannot fully rebuild and restore healthy cells that keep my immune system and body strong.

😍I am seriously in love with this analogy, because with growth as one of my core values, learning how our bodies work has FASCINATED me for at least a decade now. I not only get to learn how we physically grow, but as I get older, I am hopefully getting a little wiser and learning how growth works on an emotional level 🤓 The complexities of the system we get to take care of on the daily- our body- is seriously AWE INSPIRING you guys! 💯

🙌🏼So why would we give it less than the respect, love, and care it deserves? Why would we wait and sit in the negative relationships, negative feelings, and negative trajectory of an unhealthy lifestyle when we have the power to CHANGE it?

Being broken is HARD, it isn’t fun, it doesn’t feel good. Just wait, though! Because the beauty is coming!! 🌸🌼🌺

✨It is the things you do each day that are creating the person you will be and habits you will have in one month, one year, and five years from now... pretty powerful when you think about it that way isn’t it?

🙌🏼The choices you make daily in your health- food you eat, getting physical activity, growing and learning about your strengths and getting comfortable asking for help in your weaknesses- all matter, and can all begin with small steps. The ‘mistakes’ or ‘failures’- eating the wrong kind of food, sitting most of the day and not getting a workout in, feeling exhausted and out of energy to make the decisions that lead you towards your goals, etc.- are all a matter of perception, that taking small steps towards your bigger goal and having a positive attitude even when you mess up, lead to so much more success in the long run!

✨We all need a little support 💁🏼‍♀️
For awhile now, I have been trying to do this life what feels like on my own. I am an independent woman,
🗂📈📝I can do all the things,
🚽🧺🧹clean all the things,
🥒🥑🥝🥦prep all the things,
And maybe still have a little time for me at the end of the day.... 🤔
🙅🏼‍♀️Psshhhh, nope!
It wasn’t working. I was feeling tired, worn out, and frustrated that I had so much to do, I was leaving myself as my last priority🥴. I wasn’t getting my 🏋🏼‍♀️workouts in regularly... I was eating more 🍫🍪out of stress and emotions... and I got to the end of the day exhausted and ready to crash on the couch 🛋 watching Netflix, instead of digging into a good book 📚. I knew there was something missing, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.
Finally, I figured it out, and I’ve been hoping and praying for beautiful women to come into my life who support me and push me to reach the goals I am working towards. I cannot do this life alone!
🍀 I got so lucky to not just have one, but two groups of people come into my life over the last few months who are doing exactly what I’ve been asking for! I have a group of awesome people supporting me in my health as I health coach alongside of them 🥗📖
I also have an amazing group of women who are helping me grow emotionally and spiritually through connection and conversation weekly, that I now know I was longing so deeply for over the last year of this life journey.😊
✨Ladies, if you don’t have a support system behind you to support your dreams in health, you’re probably finding it hard to succeed at your goals.
Am I right?
It takes GUTS to ask for help🤕. It takes TIME ⏱to wait for the right people to come into your life. But the first step is being open and available for those people to come, and ready to embrace the opportunity when they do 🙌🏼
Find people around you who inspire you, and be brave in asking them to ☕️ or 🥗 🍴, or even just set up a phone 📱 call! Whatever you need to do to get support. It is so worth it to reach your goals!! You are so worth the effort it takes to fight for your goals alongside someone who also wants the very best for you and your health 🌼

I’ve had countless people ask me what diet I recommend or how to succeed on their diet. They tell me they just all the sudden lose motivation or eat something ‘bad’ and it all goes downhill from there.

So what is the key to success when you are trying to eat healthy— I.e. “dieting”.... 😒. Motivation? Willpower? Perseverance? New diets or workout plans? Yes, those help, but they are not what are going to keep you going when you fall off track and start shaming yourself.

The most powerful tool for your success is Perspective.

Perspective (or lack of) is the quiet killer of your success- because without it, every slip up or craving becomes a failure without a way around it, and you don’t get back up. But after years of failing and shaming myself, I can tell you the game changer for me- was my perspective.

When I first started dieting, the smallest thing would cause me to ‘fail’. 1️⃣ night out with the girls, 1️⃣night of indulgence, 1️⃣ weekend trip, and it was all over. I had to start all over and I was back at square one. I’d write off weeks of hard work thinking I had completely blown it. Then I’d stare at myself in the mirror, hating how I looked, wishing for the quick fix to just make all the lumps go away. It would get to me and I’d go on the search for another diet. Anyone else know the feeling? 🙋🏼‍♀️

It was only when I learned HOW to eat instead of just WHAT to eat (and blindly following someone’s tips and tricks) that I began gaining confidence in my healthy decisions. I started gaining perspective on what was important.

You’ve heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. So, if you don’t eat until later in the day, how can you make sure you are getting the best nutrition from your meal?
Tip 1️⃣ Include a healthy fat such as avocado, almond butter or peanut butter, or olive, avocado, or coconut oil. Fats are slower to digest, keeping you fuller for longer.
Tip 2️⃣ Incorporate protein, but not too much. 25g per meal and no more is perfect, because our body cannot process more than that at once. Some ideas include:
🔹a 4oz chicken breast
🔹3 oz ground turkey
🔹3.5 oz filet of salmon
🔹a couple scrambled or hard boiled eggs with two sausage links, etc....
Tip 3️⃣ When eating carbohydrates, choose low glycemic options:
🔸Ezekiel Bread
🔸Sautéed vegetables
🔸Mixed greens
🔸Beans or lentils
By implementing these strategies, you’ll keep your blood sugar from spiking after your first meal, which will in turn allow your blood sugar to stay more steady throughout the day. That means no more ravenous stuffing your face at lunch or chocolate cravings mid day 🤭

😅Honest moment for a second...
⚡️This season of life has been rough for me. It has been full of a lot of good times, but also a lot of really hard days with negative thoughts and feelings coming from my past and seeping into who I am today and who I see myself becoming. And with all honesty, I have allowed my bad decisions, or decisions I didn’t realize were going to hurt me in the future, to hold me back in my present from reaching goals I have for myself and becoming who I want to be. Those goals end up feeling too big for me as a broken and messy person to handle😔I get overwhelmed😟 I feel more broken☹️ And I tell myself I can’t 😞
😘Yet, I am wrong. My thoughts are not always the truth, and can so easily be driven by my emotions (do you remember when I said it’s been a rough season? That means lots of emotions and negative feelings). You know what else they are driven by? My isolation and thinking I can do it all on my own🤲🏼
So thankfully, I am learning to reach out. I am finding beautiful people in my life who are able to hold a space for these heavy emotions, carry the burden of the past with me, but also show me how beautiful life is and how amazing it can be. I am so grateful for those people who are walking beside me in that, because somehow it breaks the barriers and tears away the limiting beliefs that I can’t be who I want to be...
—..That I can’t have the marriage I want to have...That I can’t love people to my fullest capacity in the work I do...That I can’t have an online business because I don’t know how, to fulfill my dream of being a stay at home mom, but still do what I am passionate about in teaching others to get healthy...That I can’t be my true self out of fear of rejection.
Once we get the lies out, their power over us is gone! 🙌🏼Once we share our struggles with trustworthy and loving friends, we can be held in our insecurities... and go beyond our limiting thoughts🧠

I am intensely passionate about health- mind, body, and soul- and I believe that no matter how busy my life, or yours, gets, we are ALWAYS able to take our health seriously, creating a routine that allows us to be prepared to succeed in making healthy meals, scheduling weekly workouts, and loving our beautiful bodies. Ultimately, I have found power in making promises to myself and KEEPING them.

I have seen changes in my body, mind, and soul through the power of not only exercise, but also food and the love of others through lasting, meaningful relationships. Your life is worth living happy! You are worth loving! You are enough…. And I want each and every individual to know there are ways to change the destructive behaviors that sabotage change, leaving you feeling sad and lonely, or ugly and fat. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. I want you to see that, the way I had to before I could step into a place of uncomfortable, but beautiful and lasting and soul-inspiring transformation.
