💥YOU ARE DIFFERENT…💥 Today is the fourth day of December and over the next few weeks, I assume that you’ll be going to parties, family gatherings and engaging in holiday festivities. Here’s a couple of things I want you to remember about yourself… What other people think of your choices DOES NOT MATTER. You are under no obligation to explain or defend your choices. In other words... Why are you working so hard? Just have one bite. Why can’t you just be happy with how you look? You’re not drinking right now? You’re not going to enjoy the cake?! But it’s the holidays! . What if this holiday season instead of getting all triggered and flustered by what others think, you instead chose to stand in your power because you are different. I actually mean that… you know it too. There is NOTHING wrong with and there is no reason to feel ashamed for wanting more out of life or for taking action to create a different life from those around you. Different… not better, just different. And you don’t owe anyone an explanation as to why. Here are some practical ways to do that. ________________________________ 🔺In response to eating/drinking: Thank you for the offer but I’m not eating/drinking/doing that right now. I just have decided I do not want it. . 🔺In response to working out regularly over the holiday season: Yes, my schedule is quite full. It’s been interesting figuring out how to navigate it all and I am enjoying the process of finding a routine that works for me, while also seeing results from my hard work. . 🔺In response to investing in yourself and your health: I’m learning lots, it’s very exciting and I am building momentum. This week, all I wanted to do was eat. Like A LOT, because I kept telling myself I was hungry, even when I wasn’t. I would eat lunch and be asking myself what I else I could find to shove into my mouth as quickly as possible. . I am finding something out about myself. I was eating to numb the incredibly uncomfortable feeling of being stuck. . I am in the deep in between stages right now, trying to figure out my next steps for my business, the health of my relationships, and taking care of myself in the midst of it all. It feels messy. Nothing is flowing. My mind is so busy, and yet I do not know what to do next. The familiar whisper came to be like a punch in the face.... “You can’t do this”. . Oh hey, old friend, I know you well. . Up until about two years ago, I don’t remember eating my feelings. Instead, I would just work harder, stay busier, and the pain and feelings wouldn’t be able to get through. And then I began really digging deep into the emotions and vulnerabilities of helping other women make healthy choices in any circumstance they may face in life. And my brain started telling me I couldn’t. I am not good enough myself to help anyone else. . Yet, my emotions can’t kill me. The thoughts that come into my head are not all real. The struggles I face are not the end of the world. And I tell myself a lot of lies out of fear. . So today I am uncomfortable and open and raw. I will let myself feel it all. . The awkwardness of it all is lifted when I am able to pour my heart out to my husband, family, and closest friends. I find my groove and the ideas start to flow freely again, without feeling forced or numbing. . I will not eat my emotions today. I will talk about them and be open, honest, and real. Confession time: 👉🏼I used to be terrified by the way my legs *jiggled* when I walked. I would also stand in front of the mirror squeezing my lower stomach because I thought the pooch at the bottom meant >I< was fat. 🙌🏼Thankfully, I have relieved myself of that burden. You want to know how? I realized I was not fat, I just HAD fat. Which is beautiful! I had to see myself as beautiful, with all of the quirks and extras I thought I wish I wasn’t born with. But I am unique, and my body is so healthy, what else could I ask for? 💁🏼‍♀️ Our bodies need fat to lubricate our joints, feed our brains🧠, and create hormones in our bodies in order to function. I have learned over many years to be grateful for a healthy body that works perfectly without me having to think about it. Fat is GOOD. No matter what jiggles I see, I will no longer put my body down and self shame, because without my body, I would have nothing.
