Kinship Care is the full-time care of a child by relatives or other adults who have a familial relationship to the child. Approximately 54 thousand children in our state are in kinship care.

I co-sponsored House Bill 5912, which would help solve the staffing crisis in Michigan’s correctional facilities by removing college credit requirements for new corrections officers. This is just one way to address the staffing shortage and mandatory overtime, which is putting a tremendous strain on corrections officers and their families. It’s an urgent problem that requires immediate thoughtful action.
