❓MYTH OR FACT ❓

🤔 You need a lot of discipline to live a healthy lifestyle.
🙈
🙉
🙊

🔥MYTH🔥

So many times people tell me they can’t “stick” with a healthy lifestyle because they believe they don’t have the willpower or discipline.

It’s true: some days it can take a bit of self-control to eat your veggies instead of cookies or chips.

But here’s something worth thinking about:

If you get up regularly every morning, have a job, floss your teeth, pay your bills, and do all of the other “adulting” things …

YOU ALREADY HAVE DISCIPLINE and SELF-CONTROL.

What it DOES take is thinking about things differently …

And being EXCITED & COMMITTED to the payoffs (rather than the immediate payoff):

Feeling better
Having more energy
Being more confident
Feeling happier
Knowing you can count on yourself to take action!

One of the best ways to build that excitement and commitment is to make healthy changes ONE STEP AT A TIME …

So you don’t get overwhelmed or have to white-knuckle a total lifestyle change.

That way you get to feel and see firsthand the PAYOFFS of your actions.

Which is one huge factor in turning those habits into something you actually WANT to do, vs. something you “HAVE” to do.

It also helps you get back on track ASAP if you slip (intentionally or unintentionally) from your new-normal healthy routine.

(And bonus: when you do it long enough … your actions turn into habits which makes them even EASIER to do.)

What is one area of your life that you feel like you ALREADY have a lot of discipline in?

Let me know in the comments! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

💡It can be soooo tempting to want to do a “complete life overhaul” starting in the New Year …

Tackling a long list of improvements or goals you want to make.

(Been there, done that … and I don’t recommend it!)

NOW: You KNOW I am all about taking action.

But not ALL the actions at the same time!

🐿You can end up like a squirrel with way too many things drawing your attention.

A better way: PRIORITIZE your goals ...

You can still get to all of them this year … but if you spread them out you’ll be a LOT more likely to turn your goals into reality.

Decide what’s MOST important to you right now - and focus on THAT.

✅What’s your TOP PRIORITY this month?👇👇

Happy Thanksgiving!

I want you to know I am SO GRATEFUL for you and your support.

Without you, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do – and that is something I am thankful for every single day of the year.

So … thank you. And I hope you and your loved ones have an incredible, happy, & healthy day.

Today, I want you to focus on being present in the moment by practicing gratitude.

You see, when you make the time to actively think about what you’re grateful for, it’s like doing a positivity reset for your brain and heart.

● It can lead you to see that you deserve positive things to happen in your life, and
● that you are capable of making them happen.
● It can help you feel better physically, with fewer symptoms of illness, and even
● help you to improve your relationships, do better in school and in your career, and so much more.

And here’s something really interesting ...

People who regularly express gratitude are more motivated to engage in healthier activities that help them be more successful.

What are you grateful for today? Let me know below! 👇👇

"When I was little, I used to smile all the time. I was happy! Why wouldn't I? But it became a weird obsession people had with me... because I was the only one who did it... I just liked sharing my smile, honestly - if I did, others would give one back. It was nice." - Coach Shaun

The ghosts have been here and left you a BOO!
Get ready to trick a neighbor or two.
Make some cookies and gather some treats.
When it's time to deliver, make sure you're discrete!
At last, hang BOO'd sign on your door, to keep the ghosts away forevermore!

Happy Halloween!

Believing in yourself.

Around here, we're all about KISS

Keeping it simple, silly!

One of the easiest recipes out there that packs a punch is a simple fruit salad bowl like these:

For the mango bowl:
• 7 oz. (200g) natural quark
• ¼ mango, chopped
• 1 tbsp. granola
For the strawberry bowl:
• 7 oz. (200g) natural quark
• 5 strawberries, halved
• ½ banana, sliced
• 1 tbsp. coconut chips

Think about it this way - if you never tried anything new, you would never fail. So failure, then, is simply proof that you're trying.

Y'all - you know we love every single piece of our body equally.

Sometimes though - some parts get a bad rap.

This week? We're giving some love to one particular body part that gets a lot of hate... the feet!

In this week's CRASH Facebook group, we're taking care of your feet … because they work SO HARD for you every day.

🦶 Your job is to roll a tennis or lacrosse ball under each foot for 2 minutes. (This may just be the best 2 minutes of your day)

Timeline photos 02/10/2021

Eating healthy doesn't have to be a chore!

When we refer to "diet" - we're referring to all of the foods and nutrients that fuel you over the course of your day.

Make sure you understand fuel intake and caloric expenditure in your system - this is huge! If you need help - comment below

Vegetables (while not the most delicious foods) can taste good with seasonings, and just eating them in between bites of a protein that you love.

Drinking calories (like sodas) and eating preserved foods (think: in a box) can be toxic, and really add up throughout the day. Instead, focus on whole foods.

Instead of focusing on your macros for the day - focus on your macros for the WEEK! Your body is working hard daily - some more than others - but day to day shifts in weight matter much less than week to week.

Give yourself some grace - you deserve it!

❓MYTH OR FACT ❓

🤔If you don’t get enough sleep during the week, you can make it up on the weekend.
🙈
🙉
🙊

🔥MYTH! 🔥

💡This kind of “oversleeping” on the weekend can actually cause you to continue your sleep deficit.

That’s because sleeping in on Saturday and Sunday mornings can make it harder for you to fall asleep on Sunday night.

🛌Which, in turn, sets you up for starting the week with less than optimal sleep!

Most of us need about 7 hours of sleep at night, but only 27% of us actually get that much!
You probably already know that not getting enough sleep is linked with health problems like a weaker immune system, high BP, and even an increased risk for diabetes.

Plus, it can cause an increase in stress hormones.

⏰A better bet than playing catch-up on your sleep: try going to bed early enough during the week so that you get at least 7 hours of sleep.

One of our favorite parts about Fall is the one-pot recipes that pop up! Her'es a one-pot chili recipe you and your family will love:
• 10 oz. (300g) minced turkey
fillet
• ½ cup (115g) rice
• 1 medium onion, finely
chopped
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 tbsp. oil
• ½ can chopped tomatoes
• 1 red bell pepper, chopped
• 1 cup (250ml) vegetable broth
• ⅓ cup (60g) red kidney beans,
drained
• ⅓ cup (85g) sweet corn,
drained
• ⅓ cup (30g) grated cheese
(optional)
Spices:
• 1 tsp. dried oregano
• 1 tsp. cumin
• 1 tsp. sweet pepper
• ½ tsp. hot pepper
• ½ tsp. salt
• ⅓ tsp. ground pepper

Recipe:
Heat the oil in a large pan and sauté the onion and garlic for
3-4 minutes. Next, add the meat and fry for about 5-6 minutes
until cooked throughout.
Add spices, mix, then add the uncooked rice and mix again.
Next add the chopped peppers, beans, corn, canned
tomatoes and broth. Mix and bring to a boil. Simmer covered
on low heat for about 17-20 minutes.
Add grated cheese, cover and heat for another 2 minutes until
the cheese melts, then serve.
Dairy free option: cheese in this recipe is optional, so if you
prefer a dairy free meal, just skip the cheese or replace with a
vegan version.

Trying to solve your problems in the same mental state that you created them is never going to get you where you want to go.

Mindset shifts are less about getting what you want and more about realizing you already have what you need.

Sit in the mindset of the problem - you're the victim, life happened to you.

Sit in the mindset of the resolver - you're the champion, you're choosing what happens in your life.
