My Quest students presented their Passion Projects today! I’m going to miss this special crew, but I know they’re going to thrive in 4th grade. At least I get another year with my almost-third-graders! 💙🧡

We had some special additions to our Mardi Gras display today! Mrs. Christina Carter Burks shared her GCCA Queen flag, photo albums, crown, scepter, and a page outfit with us. We also had Mrs. Denise Haynes Nault and Mrs. Allison Mitchell Boggess share their queen stories and history with us. Mrs.Erin Simpson Anderson brought her class and told us all about her time as a GCCA maid. It was such a royal day! We shared our classroom with 3 kindergarten classes, too!

We’re having a party in Quest this week—a Mardi Pardi! Students will be learning about the history of Mardi Gras through web searches, guest speakers, a teacher-made passage, and a virtual field trip. Then students will be tasked with designing their own royal court using real-life designs and images from local krewes. They will be provided actual court sketches from local artists/designers, as well as researching costumes from other cultures. Thank you to the friends of Room 15 for loaning us these precious items this week! We even have some local royalty at BVE—Mrs. Nault, GCCA Queen Ixolib (2001), Mrs. Boggess, Queen of Hera (2005), and Mrs. Anderson, GCCA Maid (2017). To wrap things up, the reigning King D’Iberville was able to secure us some GCCA 2023 beads!
