Happy Mothers’ Day to all the Mommy’s , Aunties , Grandmoms & Stepmoms that always say a little pray when you answer the phone never knowing what’s on the other end. Always giving advice you know they won’t take, money you don’t have and listening to stories that make the Hairs on your neck stand up & fighting every urge to say “ I told you so” . Listening to tears trying not to jump in your cars and run to where they are but give comfort over the phone. Laughing with them and keeping secrets & loving on these babies no matter what . ✨✨✨✨.You are the real MVP. Whether you birthed them or found them 🤣 , raising them is NOT easy and they will try to make to think your crazy, (sometimes we are a little) but that’s ok too. *Seriously , Alopecia SUCKS! And the way has embraced it publicly has been so amazing to watch . To attack her publicly on such a large platform was not funny at all. When women are diagnosed with alopecia , it’s never easy . Trying tons of things from injections to creams and once they realize this is it , it really becomes a journey to accept the new reality and No matter how confident your are it can still be a very sensitive topic. Most woman start wearing wigs , embracing her bald head Is not only encouraging to millions of women who suffer (most times in silenced) but to our daughters who often at times put so much emphasis on having long hair.

I was packing and preparing to move the next day and she just came in for a reg wash/style and then this happened -The Creation of . The “V” would become (and still is) my most requested cut. It was everywhere, they was even stealing it🤦🏾‍♀️ ( you know you onto Something when they start stealing yo sh*t😜)… I created this look with my T-outliners and , which are still my go to’s for creating soft …. I’ve been a Professional cosmetologist for 20+ years . Right after graduation from Gordan Phillips in 99’ I was offered a job at Maine Design as a stylist . I had a small “loyal” clientele and was excited to be working in Upper Darby’s first Black Barbershop with 2 of the best barbers ( & ) . Once I started , my “kitchen Clients “ decided they didn’t want to pay salon prices so they all left & I had 2 clients that only came every2 weeks 🤦🏾‍♀️it was so embarrassing, to sit alll week doing nothing. I would clean , answer phones , pass out flyers , do free hair whatever just to stay busy. But in the meantime I would ask the barbers questions and watch everything they did . Eventually , my clientele grew and now I am booked solid until 6-8weeks out with a waitlist , someone said trying to book with me is like trying to get a spot in Diner en Blanc 😱🤣🤣I hate turning clients away because I remember the days of borrowing carfare from my gmom just to go the salon and sit. Being a self employed is a hustle . S**t has not been easy, a lot of long days and late nights. Lots of tears and mistakes but Definitely worth the ups , the relationships and the freedom to be in an creative environment doing something that is truly a gift . The point of this loooong caption is don’t give up, keep going one day it will alllll be a funny story 😘
