The Fed made its first rate cut in more than four years, by half a percentage point.

What does this mean for the mortgage industry? Mortgage rates typically drop ahead of a rate cut- and they did - dropping to the lowest levels of the year earlier this month.

Because mortgage rates are tied to the bond market, federal rate cuts don't provide instant relief but can positively impact mortgage rates in the long run. But if you have home equity loans, credit cards, car loans this is great for you!!! You may see immediate impact since that debt is directly tied to the Fed's prime rate.

3️⃣ Property taxes: Property taxes are typically included in your mortgage payment. The lender collects this amount and holds it in an escrow account, then pays the taxes on your behalf when they are due. Property taxes are based on the assessed value of your property and the tax rate in your area.
4️⃣ Homeowners insurance: Homeowners insurance protects your home and belongings from damage or loss due to events such as fire or theft. Like property taxes, this amount is often included in your mortgage payment and held n an escrow account until the insurance premium is due.
